I’m trying to do a bit of forward planning for our proposed trip to Norway in September/October. Initially itnis based on saving a bit of money where I can. Norway has a large number of toll roads, policed by ANPR cameras linked to a vehicles registration, and then the tolls are send to the home address, you can pay less by opening an account which is then debited automatically and the bill sent to home. I did it a few years ago and it is a pita to actually pay it. So this time I’m pre-selecting all non-toll roads, firstly helped by AI, and secondly by the satnag settings. I could also pre-register for ferry use as apparently you don’t pay onboard any more, again it is all computerised. I’ll avoid ferries where possible, perhaps they won’t be able to scan my number plate
The next difficulty is crossing the 2 bridges linking Denmark with Sweden. The Storebäelt bridge and the Oresund bridge. Mega expensive. £386 return for the 2. 4 journeys.
I’ve found I can register for a 12 month pass that reduces the cost. Even bearing in mind the £42 annual fee, there is a significant saving to be made.
Those same 4 bridge crossing would then become £224 + £42 fee = saving £120. The highest saving, not really of any use to me is the Oresund bridge, reduces from £119 each way to £42 each way.
Think how much I’d save if I needed to do that trip regularly.
So the annual pass is well worth while. If I keep it running until next year before cancelling, I’d have a good reason to go back again in the Spring. Another benefit. How to sell that idea to memsahib?
