M&P strike again. I used them once, more than 12 years ago. Purchased an air filter for my Blackbird over the phone. The nice man on the end of the phone asked for the registration & what year it was and I told him it was registered in 1999 (T plate) but was a 98 Carbie. They sent me the wrong filter & had the cheek to charge me return postage and a restock fee, which combined was about £1 less than I'd originally paid. I then needed to re-order the correct part, which they'd send out once the restock fee & postage had been paid. I wrote a stiff letter of complaint, sticking to the facts, stating I expected a refund of at least the restock fee, but never received a reply, just a refund of around £1. So, M&P blacklisted until now.

Fast forward to today when I went to fit my new chain & sprocket set for my Tiger, ordered from M&P last week. The chain didn't fit, too short. I checked the box & there was the problem, They sent me a 110 link chain, not a 114. Checked their website, which states 114 links & my Triumph workshop manual which also confirms 114 links. I thought I'd risk using them again as I'd heard some positive feedback of late., so should be an interesting phone call to them tomorrow.

Not happy.

They advertised something on special offer a few years ago...
I ordered and paid for 10 units for Thetford club members.

I got 2
Called them and they said that was all they had... I said no worries, can I have a refund or credit note.. Nope.
And that was it !
No sorry, no nothing... Like you they hit the blacklist

Oddly, the bike sales dept are brilliant. Great after sales and bent over backwards for me.. Shame the parts section is so shite

All you have to do is look up the owner in company's house & see how many businesses he has previously owned & shut (with debts etc) & how many he owns now (soon to close) & that should tell you the type of company you are dealing with

I may be a pedantic old git about this but M & bloody P never get my money & if it see anything listed on ebay as in Swansea I check its not from a company owned by them, Been doing this since they tried to rip me off over a fake chain & sprocket set for the bird & I could only get my cash back through my bank as they just didn't want to know

Was that the iffy DID chains ?
At the time I did post a warning on here..
The price was less than DID could be bought by the container load at agent prices

It was a D.I.D chain he bought from a supplier in Europe by the bucket load, I got on to D.I.D themselves & they never sold to that supplier then the leads go quiet so in all likelihood it was fake & M&P are still selling them as far as I can figure. probably fine for a 125 but no good at all for a bird

I now buy my chains from a shop I used to work at as I know they are genuine JT because I know the agent & am sure they buy direct from JT themselves, apart from that they are bloody good chains at a reasonable price

Well, phoned them this morning & they've emailed me a return label.

It is a D.I.D. chain but having done a price comparison with other suppliers, it's priced about the same. the only reason i went with M&P was free postage. I could have gone to Sportsbikeshop which is only about 20 minutes away but I was specifically after D.I.D.

I've found a D.I.D. Chain authenticator, not sure if it covers chains bought in the UK but before I send the incorrect one back, I might try it.

Once this is sorted, I think it's back on the blacklist for them.
