Time to think about an upgrade.

Thoughts are Samsung s21 or Google pixel 6 types.
Don't go for apple, just don't like them :)

Any thoughts from the collective wisdom of the hive mind!!

Do make sure whatever you go for has all the functions you require. I had to get a new phone recently and got a Samsung A12, rather annoyingly it doesn't have a gyroscope so my night sky app doesn't work as it should.

If I was forced back to the Andrex operating system (with an automatic weapon to my plums), I'd go HTC. I really don't like Samsung phones. Maybe it's a trait of the operating system, I don't know, but the three Galaxies I had all had the intensely irritating habit of opening up Google Play and Google Maps in the background without my knowledge. My HTCs never did that. I only ever found out when the phones started running slow. I couldn't find a way to disable the bastard apps to stop them from doing it and that's when I switched to Apple and have never looked back. Saying that, I drive a BMW and I'm not interested what's behind me so no real need to look back anyway.

Agree with Pow-Lo, Apple for me every time, I used to love Samsung products but found that the quality has severely deteriorated over time, been hacked three times on Samsung phones, never had a problem with Apple.

I've had the Pixel 6 Pro for 2 months and I would recommend it. It's easily the best phone I've had. I was looking for something that had good security and a good camera and it's top of the league in both. The call screening is an excellent feature also. And just to add good value compared to other flagship phones.

Why do you need to upgrade?

I'm on a Samsung S9- does everything I need it to.

Never had any problems, because I don't suffer with user error.

The wife and I "downgraded" our Huawei phones to Google Pixel 4a's a few months ago as we were both getting hacked off with carrying the equivalent to a small flatscreen TV around. We're both very happy with them. The camera in particular is excellent.
If you're after a more or less "pure" Android phone then you can't go far wrong with a Pixel.

My current phone is huawei P30 pro and I've no criticism of it.

Decent size without being too big.
Good battery life etc.

What we tend to do is have one phone on a buying/monthly contract and the other two on monthly sum only with minimum data hut free calls/texts.

The main contract phone has a good data allowance which can be passed onto the other two when needed.

So if I get a new one this one gets passed on to replace the oldest.

Apple design their products so that no-one but they can repair them. They also design so they cannot be upgraded. I will never give them a penny of my hard-earned cash. Having said that they are well designed and built. If you are happy to be ripped off then go for it. I have an excellent Huawei P20.

Same here (y)

Got mine secondhand for free off the daughter of a mate who deals in these things (refurbed) for one of the big rip of merchant providers, a couple of quid to get it unlocked for the network I wanted to use and 2 years down the line I am still using it without a single problem

Never had one go faulty however there are plenty of places that do guaranteed repairs.
