Try the Criminal injuries compensation authority, they may say it is not their jurisdiction, and argue that it was not a violent crime, but you can argue that you have been left injured as a result of someone else's wrecklessness, so therefore you are a victim of violent crime,
it's got to be worth a try

good luck

CICA will not cover what they deem traffic accidents, and the MIB will say that is certainly is not their jurisdiction as it did not involve an untraced or uninsured motorist.

Why do pushbike riders not have to have insurance??? :dunno:

An interesting point Coddy. I am a keen cyclist but have no insurance as the law does not require it (same as that other highly dangerous road-user the horse rider). I also neglect to wear a helmet for the same reason. I can assure you, however, that if HM Government decided to make it compulsory I would have no hesitation in complying with the statute.

The only ambiguity I can see is: Which riders should be required to be insured?

The "club" cyclists and adults using the road are an obvious target for insurance. But what about all the young kids learning on footpaths with their stabilisers on? I bet there are more collisions involving "tinies" than there are adults.

maybe so Steve, but how many of these "tiny's" are riding around after dark all over the place and cause shit loads of damage to whatever hits them,?? unlike the "supposed" intelligent adults,!!

That was my point precisely Ian.

I think it should be made the law that cyclists should have at least 3rd party/legal cover (it is available if you know where to look), but what about the kids out "playing" on their "toy" bikes?

Maybe I ought to practice what I preach and buy a policy
