In a bulletin issued by Martin Lewis' Money saving expert site.

Anyone who has a PayPal account (and I know there are many on here who may use PayPal to pay for rallies and the like, ) will suffer a charge of the lesser of £12 or the whole of their account if they have not used the account in the past 12 months.

This is something that many folk on here could occur because of, say, lack of events taking place this year.

In the short term, the charge can be avoided by logging into your account BEFORE 15th December.

I received an email from PayPal about changes to their charges & fees last week but when i read through the summary, it appeared it wouldn't affect me although i was a little concerned that they may now charge for transferring money from PayPal to your bank account. The small print says these fees only apply if transferring to a different currency or for business accounts.

I must admit, I missed the fees for unused accounts although I regularly use mine anyway.

We have had a Revolut card for about 4 years now.. Had no real issues with it except to start with, and I do agree customer service is, as far as they are concerned, an oxymoron..
Because of that, I only leave less than a pound on it most of the time, only dumping a couple of K to at when we go away.
Revolut has given us a consistantly better exchange rate than all other options for the time we have had it
TIP
If you are a user, never exchange £ for € at the weekend.
Revolut loads the rate to cover any discrepancy that may occur during the weekend
Today they are offering €1.10.74.
But it changes minute to minute and if you are that way inclined you can watch it for a few minutes, see what the trend is and hit 'exchange' at the time you think will give you the best rate
While I have been typing this I have watched it vary from 1.098 to 1.1076
Might not seem worth it but when you are exchanging a few grand it does make a difference
