Paint colour choice

I have recently purchased a S plate Blackbird and the paint has faded. It's looks like the red has oxidised as the lacquer seem undamaged. I am hoping to restore it over winter and wondering if to get it the same original colour or look for another stunning Red. Any suggestions?

Have you tried having it detailed ( professionally polished/restored ) ? - pretty odd for the base to oxidise and not the lacquer

Are you able to put some pictures up of the areas you think need help?

I tend to agree - may well get back to it's original colour with a bit of elbow grease.

Although I always liked the thought of a lime green metallic Bird myself, but only with clear indicator and tail light lenses.......

Are you sure it's red and not a late plated pink one?

Check the colour label under the seat. :dunno:

My R plate was candy muthos magenta. Check your paint code in case yours is just this. Go for a new paint job anyway. Something to make it yours. :yo:

Thanks for the replies

I will take some pics tomorrow and post them. Can't decide if to go standard colour or something different

I've seen on the bay of evil, mostly reds on birds, where it looks like the paint seems to be fading more to white under the lacquer than red. Sometimes with red a simple, as mentioned, mopping may bring the colour back.

If not then a respray is an option as is using a baglux tank bag.
