I’ve met people with parrots on board, and cats, dogs obviously, and some idiots unbelievably choose to take children with them!

We even have a member who keeps white rats in the van..
They are actually great fun ! They have built a rat run right around the van near the ceiling out of clear plastic tubing that has various toys located around it :)

Thanks John I'll have to check them out asI've got a lot to learn. For example, it's a 51 plate so no seat belts in back. Whilst it's legal to carry passengers due to age, I'd rather they had seat belts but not sure if they can be safely mounted to the side facing bench seats.

You can fit lap belts quite easily but you will have to go through the floor in to LARGE steel plates.. And one thing you will learn quickly is that weight is often a problem
What is the van plated at ?

the Way I understand it, this vehicle is a 4 berth but 2 seatbelt MH rated at 3500kg. I’m confident that you cannot fit belts to side facing seats. I’ll go look for the regs.

have a look here, I think it’s illegal now.

Why do motorhomes always have such rubbish wheel covers?

Thanks. I'm getting mixed messages from info sites. Think I'll stick to joining the 2 recommended forums and learn from their experiences.

Don't know, still got to pay for it and pick it up. All I know is that the ad stated max gross weight 3500kg so can be driven on any car licence.

Pretty much standard then and that will be the plated weight.
Do your self a favor Martin.. as soon as you collect it fill it up with diesel ( and water if pos ) and drive straight to a weigh bridge.. find out how much you have to play with.
Sadly, on average, it will proly not be a lot
Our old Miller was plated at 3500.. Took it empty and weighed it, came out at 3600 !!!!! I had to up plate it straight away to 4100 ( which was good in a way cos I have a C1 licence like most old farts and the road tax on anything over 3500 is only £165 a year )

My first was 3850kg and when I bought it I wasn’t asked by the dealer if I had a licence to drive it. I’m a lot wiser now, but still rely on others for assistance.
my current Burstner is rated at 3500kg . But after adding solar panels, sat TV system, extra leisure batteries and such, I last weighed it at 3450 and started to worry. So I got it replated to 4100kg and can breathe easier for a few more years until I need to renew my licence to retain C1
most council places will know of a suitable weighbridge for a tenner or so, in and out with a ticket in ten minutes.
