Mmmmmm

I thought they had something to do with helping to stop vibration
But they obviously don't cause so many people talk about tingly hand syndrome.:rolleyes:

Bar end weight's were originally made from heavy steel to act as damper's for bar vibe's, unfortunately heavy is no longer cool, so they have been replaced by ally one's, that don't work.
If you have vibe problems try fitting the stainless steel one's, wont help your wheelies though :}

Yeh , they're meant to act in the same way that a tightrope walkers pole creates stability. (If they are heavy enough !!)

The bars are.....

acting like tuning forks, adding/subtracting wieght will change the frequency at which they are tuned.

Hiya.

Had a heavy, steel set on my '86 FJ1200, and was curious too. Popped them off to see what the difference was for an hour or so, then went home...Humbled. My hands were nearly vibrated into mush without them on there. Not to mention, there was a bit of a "loose" feel in the steering without them. Put them back on, and that ended that. :rolleyes:

The ones on my XX are smaller and lighter. But, in spite of that, I'll just leave them right where they are. As mentioned in an earlier post, they may affect the harmonics in the bars, and, therefore, still affect vibration in a favorable way.

Ayah, if the vibration is bugging you, try getting barsnakes. These are heavy, flexible inserts that go inside your bars, and they help absorb vibration.

Hope this helps.

Mike.
