Oh No! Bad News for Aprilia if this is true.....

Aprilia appear to be ?147million in debt - they've stopped making bikes and need to find ?5M by May 3rd or be declared bankrupt.............

If this is true then it's a real shame - I've loved everything that Aprilia have done, (perhaps I'll exclude the Pegaso650 from that statement!) - the RSV-R is one of the most memorable bikes I've ever ridden and I was really looking forward to seeing if they'd pop that wonderful looking 450v into the RS250 frame.....................gutted............will Shakey's MotoGP deal be affected I wonder?

<This info has come on an email from someone in the States so I don't know how reliable it is>

C'mon Aprilia - pop this little beauty into the RS250 chassis and it could save you!

I'd buy an Aprilia over a Ducati any day..............

That might explain~~~

Their dreadful spare reputation then eh?

A lot of people [I suspect] are put off buying an Aprillia machine because of their spares reputation

Would you shell out for a new bike if you even suspected that should anything go wrong [in or out of warranty] that your pride and joy could be sitting in the garage for up to 3 months?

I know of one sad sod whose been in exactely that position - for most of last summer

Yes I know that Honda spares are bloody expensive BUT at least they are readily available

Ahhh I've not seen the Comic yet Steve............perhaps this is where my mate 238mph got the info from..............prolly on the MCN site..............

So is it to be believed? Can't be good for the biking industry as a whole......

Be a Shame if it is

True,,,,, mind you they did buy a few other names up along the way didn't they,, having owned the RSV Mille B4 the B/bird it would be a shame to see it go,,,,, its a great bike,, would still have one today ( even over the Blackie %$fan ) ( Mille don't do Pillion)I didn't have any probs with spares at all,, I needed new Digi clocks,, replaced while I waited,,

The Engine has heaps of Character & a lot better than the Duke IMHO,, build Quality on mine was spot on,, bad news if they go to the wall.

Here here Shrops - the RSV is an awesome bike - and as for the full power Tuono, well I was VERY tempted by one of those............I haven't read the comic - are they suggesting someone will buy them out then?

according to the comic

Things look desperate :violin: ,, they got into trouble because of the collapse of the scooter market in Italy,, I think Ducati are interested in buying moto Guzzi from aprillia which might help,, will have to wait & see.

Having got on of said machines I can say that I have never had a problem with the bikes mechanics, electrics or body work and h'actually Aprilia have a much better reputation for reliability and finish than Ducati. In fact, I would go as far to say that my Mille is more reliable than my old blackie was. Darn sight more fun to ride too!

It will be a serious loss

if they go to the wall. The only twin to give ducrapie any grief.

I have ridden my brothers standard apprilia and I have got to say I loved every minute of it. The only problem he has had with it was the rear shock leaking, changed under warranty with no problems.

Would buy one if there was space in the garage for another bike. :xm

Agree that the Mille ~~~

is a cracking bike in terms of performance and engineering

Just wouldn't want to have parted with the wonga only to find that the "under warranty" spare parts that was required was still sat in the factory 3 months after it has been ordered

Bike's are for riding - not polishing

If Aprillia do go under - it's gonna make for a very interesting second hand market????????

It Would be a shame indeed

if the firm went altogether..
I very much doubt it though knowing that the Italians would not want to lose face in the motorcycling industry. Lets hope they feed some euros into it.

 Agree entirely
I love my RSV and bollocccs to the "contributor" that knows fucc all about riding.

Funny though that some contributions to this thread are from people that could not ride and the comments so untrue but they still make because they know some of us can afford a proper bike as well.

Some poor bastids want to do a track day as well.....then they found out that tracks have BENDS

I ask you!!!!!!!!!!!!Heard all the loughs.

Sense of humour, what sense of humour----------------------

Chunky....Is this your post?

Or are you speaking for somebody else?

Let me explain to you...
From the minute I bought the Aprilia, a certain individual talked about reliability problems, spare problems, the bike is gonna spend more time in the garage for repairs ect ect ect...Never let it drop...just like a kid. This was another opportunity for him to have another go..Whats the matter with the childish git :bang:

Well, let me say....my RSV has not seen the dealership for anything other than services. I am delighted with its performance, handling, smile factor etc.

What pisses me off is that some people cannot see beyond Blackbirds or for that matter Honda. The problem here is that most of us RESPECT other peoples choices but some do not. >This particular individual is full of shit and you only have to know who it is, look at his contributions and learn.....

Sorry if I offended you personally or anybody else that I do not have a problem with. A lot of other people tell me all the time "oh, you ve seen Peter? What did he say about me? Then he does not talk to them for weeks on end." So childish.... Actually, from now on, let the stupid git say whatever he likes, I have better things to do and mates in my life, proper mates. I will not respond for the sake of other people getting offended.

I have an "old" 2002 RSV-R. It is as reliable as my blackbird. O do know of a coupel who have had problems with them, I also know of a few blackbird owners who have had problems with there bikes. I even seen a broken down Bently.

You get good and bad in everything.

BUT APRILIA BUILT A 1ST CLASS,COMPETATIVE AND RELIABLE LITRE RACE BIKE WITH IN 3 YEARS WHERE IT HAS TAKEN OTHERS 10 YEARS.....

The real shame of this is that Aprilia's customer service has really improved over the last 2 years, I suspect that's where some of the money has gone. I hope they make it. No one else has really managed to make a "cheap" bike as much fun as they do.
