Just spent a couple of days riding around North Yorkshire and Cumbria, and boy did we take in some classic roads.

If you are planning something similar, below are some roads to seriously consider.

Ignoring the boring bits (ie A1 to Ripon), here is a list of some of the highlights:

Day1
Ripon - Leyburn - Hawes (A6108 / A684) Melting tarmac.
Hawes - Sedburgh - Brough - Middleton-teesdale (A684 / A683 /A685 / B6276)
Middleton - Alston - Brampton (B6277  / A689)
Brampton - Penrith - Shap - Orton ( A69 / A6 / B6261)

Day2
Orton - Kendal (A685 :yo: )
Kendal - Egremont - Cockermouth (A590 fl4g71 / A5092 3ck04 / A595 / A5086) The A5092 is like the Pepsi MAX, i nearly puked it was that twisty!
Cockermouth - Brampton - Barnard Castle (A595 / A689 / B6277)
Richmond - Ripon (B6274 A6108).

The highlight, well all of it really. The 5092 is an absolute beast of a road.
The roads between Sedburgh and Middleton were new to me, and were a real treat, definately worth a revist.

We stayed at the Barn House B&B, which was absolutely fantastic, and completely recommended, check out the website below:

A lovely renovated barn, with 3 rooms available. Biker friendly with a garage to park the bikes and gear. Even has a chocolate on the bed side cabinet and ear plugs in case your mate snoars!
If your touring around cumbria, this place is well worth a consider.

All the best
toolkit.

The a5092 is a right turn off the main A590 between Newby Bridge and Barrow-in-Furness, and goes to Broughton-in-Furness.
Have a great time and ride safe.
