Nurburg Ring June 2003

There is a great B&B just down the road from the ring which is dedicated to bikers. Suzan from the US rides an R1 and Brenden from Lichfield Staffs rides a 966S. They have secure lockup, pool, barbeque and all that stuff (see photo below), and the surrounding roads are worth doing as well as the ring.

All these features suggest it is worth a full week to do it all justice, and the hosts can give some track tuition, which would be ideal for getting the best out of the ring - it is quite a challenge and can smack your arse easily.

I worry that the B&B is so popular that it will get fully booked in no time. I tried to book the Euro Bank-Holi-dates in May already, but they are fully booked.

I am not into wasting time and have no asprirations to get burdened with anyone that say I am up for but it is unable to push buttons. If you are interested in doing a week in June, have cash to put down (now) to secure ferry and accomodation, then I OK to organise a smallish group.

The secured parking shows space for about 10 bikes. I have no idea how many beds available. I don't share beds by the way, unless you look like Claudia Shiffer (which I would not believe anyway).

Now to attach the photos..... OH, how do I do it? the friendly link seems to have dissapeared.

Rockin on planet Martin
June.........

Thanks for that bucks, I am very interested. However my partner has only just come out of hospital and will be off work for some time, so not to waste your time I cannot commit financially at this time. I would however be greatfull if you could keep me informed as to the progress of your trip so that as and when i can give you a definate yes we may be able to join up. My partner works within the travel industry so she may be able to sort something a bit nearer the time for me.

I hope i haven't wasted your time but its better to let you know now rather than latter.

Keep in touch mate.

Cheers

Martin.

'The Green Hell'

Hey Bucks,

I'm a newbee round here but if there's one thing that floats my boat other than my bike - it's got to be The Ring.
I went there with Byrne-Up bike tours last year, had an amazing time, the experience is unforgettable.
I am desperate to go back but unfortunately can't commit to your trip at the mo, things are a bit tight but I thought I'd try and help you promote it a bit - if anyone who reads this hasn't been before, you HAVE to go. Going with a group was great, especially as they knew the best roads to get there, but the track (and the hardware on show in the carpark) has to be seen to be believed. It is scary but in a good way.

How much is the B&B - just in case Santa's nice to me you understand - for a double room (don't worry, you're safe - I'd like to take the missus).

Cheers

First, I seem to have missed the first part of the "Nurburgring" thread, 'kin pooters, is someone planning a run out to the 'Ring next year then ? I'm a regular attendee at this place and know a good hotel for "bett und fruhstuck", plus a good bar and secure parking if you ask nicely.

Second, I also went with Byrne-Up bike tours last year. Like a lobotomy, it's something I WOULD NEVER, EVER, DO AGAIN. It completely ruined the weekend for me, but at the risk of boring everyone, merely as a counter to Crusers' comments, I could not recommend them, so both sides of the coin. (If anyone does want the details, mail me direct).

I'd be interested in going to the 'Ring with others from the Bird list, and if someone would be kind enough to e-mail the bits I've missed (dates etc) I'd be appreciative to the tune of a beer at the 'Ring.

regards,

A happy bunny wiv me sorted bike (at last)

Mike.

Start of thread......

Hi Mike,

this thread started halfway down the thread titled "Northern Spain 2003" and was split off to avoid confusion.

I was contemplating the Byrne Up experience although 3/4 days seems not good value for money. Please email me the problems you encountered with them
