Just had an email from a friend of mine, some fooking cow has nicked my avatar and is using it on another bike site :bang:

I don't normally worry about things like this but it was made especially for me by a dear friend and I guard it closely......

Not a lot you can do about it unless you can prove ownership and have a 'polite' word with the person using it. I looked long and hard for an avitar, the one I have was also done especially for me by an artist of MCN mag. Even then he said I could use it exclusively but it was still his own work.

If the creator has not given it to anyone else then it is literally 'stolen'

You could email them and tell them they are in breech of copywrite :t and see what kind of reaction you get. bettter that than going in all guns blazing.

Just my 2p worth.

Well......what a let-down !!!! Went in with all guns blazing and the person in question has changed their avatar.

Admin got involved and have deleted the avatar from the base gallery. Can anyone tell me why a biker's forum has the facility to store all the avatars that members have uploaded into a gallery.....and then anyone is free to use those avatars by selecting them from a list ????

Seems a bit crazy to me !!!!!! :h

Like I said, Not a lot you can do about it unless you can prove ownership.

You are going to get more co-operation from someone if you go about it in a civil manner (regardless if its a theft) than if you charge in.

Be reasonable, ask nicely, be polite. If no success, then you can go in all guns blazing. But the natural reaction of someone who is TOLD to do something is the opposite isn't it?

That why you lot ALWAYS obey the speed limit isn't it?

Don't wana start an all out war on this, it was just my opinion. :dunno:

Adam M8.....I don't want to start a public war between us and another forum as I wouldn't wish to drag BIRD into a heated situation.

I PM'ed the link to Ian just so he can have a look at what was said......I can e-mail you if you wish ????

Cheers M8,

I took about 12 photos of my toy Captain and made my own avatar. It's stupid enough to be unwanted by anyone else. :)

Here's a question for you all? :dunno:

Iv just been back onto the "other forum" and I'm puzzeled....... :h

The thread in which the said discussion started has been moved and only the replies to the topic of that thread remain, the questions and answers to my avatar have been placed on a new thread started by me, only it wasn't me that started the new thread?

So does this mean that the admin on the other site have the knowledge to gain the password that i use to log in? :dunno:

Or is there another way in which a thread can be started using someone else's user-name and password? :dunno:

Just a tad worried at the moment as I use that same password for a few other things? :h
