Haven't fitted one, but know a man who does. :yo: Even if you fit it yourself, I believe you still have to take it to Wales somewhere to get it registered (or checked or something). If a registered fitter does it, they sort all that - I believe!! d34l

Where are you? If you like I can find his number/details for you, but he is based in Shepton Mallet in Somerset - is that any use? :dunno:

Sorry chaps but back to bikes. I received a letter advertising LPG scooters the other day. They are being imported in from China. Didn't bother to check the price, not that interested.

I dunno if it is wise to admit this, but yes, I have fitted countless kits mate.. to taxi's and fork trucks...

Generally a bit of wee wee, but ideally you should have to hand a something or other to measure low pressure ( the HP side will take care of its self )

From memory 4lb pressure is needed in the lp chamber of the control unit..it was the same in all the units I fitted but may have changed in recent times..
That info SHOULD be supplied with the gear and is quite critical..
If it is not supplied contact the manufacturer and ask them for the settings..

I have seen a couple of new kits that had sealed contol units supplied.. all prest and bugger all to set up.. If its one of those... simple as feck !!

Wolfie - an element of that price is to do with registering it - it isn't registering, but Swansea have to do something to it, will try and find out wot. A mechanic friend of mine was going to fit his own kit to a range rover. No worries with fitting it, but he said that by the time he'd driven it to Swansea and paid for whatever they do, he might as well get a pro to fit it. :bang:

All that said, my dad used to have a garage that converted 4x4's to LPG and everyone swore by it (not because of it) - you can get a list of garages that sell the LPG, and its pretty easy to find now, And cheap!!!

Good luck, but do check out the bit that Swansea have to do and the cost!! h1d1ng2

I make changes to my vehicle?

If you change the colour, engine, modify or replace the chassis/monocoque bodyshell, propulsion (fuel) type, cylinder capacity, seating capacity or weight of a goods vehicle, you must fill in the changes section on the Registration Document/Certificate. Following the introduction of graduated Vehicle Excise Duty written evidence is required to support any change, which results in the vehicle becoming subject to a lower rate of duty. For changes other than those listed on the Registration Document/Certificate, you should underline the details that have changed and write the new information next to them. Send the Registration Document/Certificate to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1BA

OK - the conversion needs to be certified to be legal. The garage that fits the kit will provide the certificate for you. If you fit it yourself you have to get it certified. Either by DVLA or by a registered fitter (if they will do that). Apparently it costs about ?100 by DVLA but you have to get the vehicle there for them to do so. Don't know if a registered fitter would certify a conversion for that if they don't fit it. :dunno: Guess they have no reason to be generous if you are doing their work?!:dunno:

I expect DVLA can tell you the specifics h1d1ng2
