Noisy vehicles

this could get interesting.

When I commuted into London in the very early hours of the morning every day there were bikes with race cans and Harleys in the Summer making ridiculous amounts of noise, no consideration for those around them.

Applies to all vehicles though, and I am sure will be welcomed by those living in the parts of the country that attract the noisy exhaust brigade, both cars and bikes.

I wonder if they would also capture the noise from aggressive use of horns? :p:D

I wish there was something similar for noisy neighbours subjecting everyone to their choice of music.

Not long before the state is all, the individual is nothing.

Clueless in most things
I wonder if they are confusing motorcycles with local kids on scooters and big exhausts?

I wonder what’s inappropriate noise? My hearing is so bad these days that lots of sounds annoy me, they must be registering on the only frequencies I can hear.

I for one cannot abide the sound of a 2 stroke zinging along. Especially little chicken chasers ring ding ding ding ding.

I’ll add to that almost all Hardly Roadworthys with no silencers.

I thought that there was something in the MOT as to how much noise a vehicle can make

I thought these days it was at the testers discretion.

What I find difficult to justify is that Hypercars, your McLarens, Ferrari’s, Lambos et al have systems built into their exhausts that open to bypass their silencers, like a kind of Exup valve. I was testing my turbo Busa with Performance Bikes at Bruntingthorpe at the same time as a car mag was testing a 458 Italia and a Gallardo. The noise coming out of their standard exhausts was horribly loud even with earplugs and a crash helmet on.

While the articletacitly points the finger at motorcycles as the primary culprit, the technology is aimed at all vehicles.

It's a matter of perception - some think that a loud exhaust is and makes them look cool.

Others think they are antisocial.

Personally I would be embarrassed beyond words to be in control of anything that was stupid noisy. Would make me feel like an even bigger twat than normal.

Too right...My nephew came around last week to show me his new bike..Z750..nice bike
but it had an aftermarket exhaust fitted which looked like to short pipes that exited by his right foot.
No silencer to be seen at all. What a complete racket it made..and not a nice one either...
My first comment was " I bet the neighbours love you first thing in the morning mate"
No need for it at all.
Also there is a bloke at the top of our grove who has some kind of 2 stroke hedge trimmer
that when going full chat could make your ears bleed..Not much chance of him
being caught by a noise camera !!!so its not just motor vehicles..

good looking AND modest
I've had loud cans, (still a lot quieter than a Hardley Movingson) and they drove me bonkers after a few minutes riding, on any bike that goes any distance the constant drone gets to me.

And that includes on a trailer

One of those 2-wheel tractors (the ones with the chrome accessories) pulled up across the road yesterday. I live not far from an RAF base & the flyboys often hit the loud pedal above the village but even their engines are quieter than the thing that was chuntering away outside.
