Well weather forecast was OK- low rain probability and not too cold and no salt at all. Got warm gear on , Mrs also ready...check oil level- fine -wheel her out garage and... the drizzle starts ho hum.. well engine running and all ready to go so we went
First to Leyburn via Richmond and Swaledale, then onto Hawes.
Then peeled off to Ribble Head and parked beyond viaduct, helmets and boots cabled to bike went for a longish walk with great views of viaduct under Ingleborough, at least it was dry on walk.
Then went to Sun pub at Dent had nice late lunch , very reasonable
Then up past Dent Station at 1150 ft and higher up and across to Garsdale Head and then Hawes, Leyburn and home.
First thing back- wash and leather bike- so easy with a fairing - no crappy exhausts etc under engine to polish
The new Avon Storms were really brilliant , confidence inspiring though I kept speed down specially in bends- wet roads all the way with some very dodgy diesel spills
Smooth predictable power really helps in condition like this
What a great sports tourer- so glad I got it

It may be in the wrong section, but it's in the right order.

I love the road from Richmond to Hawes via Reeth and Thwaite.

Yep all nice there- know the roads you mean -went Crook to Wolsingham then Stanhope and then a gorgeous ride down across Moors to Eggleston and Barnard Castle yesterday
Best thing was the rain had washed all the salt away so the post ride cleaning was not so intense :)

Bet that was nice though I've not done that one. Have done Alston to Barnard Castle though so have an idea of how good it is.

Would have been so much nicer in a car.

:p
The idea is to experience the lovely roads with their delightful bends and admire the scenery when you can, not shut yourself away in a tin box where you are divorced from all that make it a nice journey .
