New to the bird

After two years on a thunderace I decided to move up to a blackbird, just picked up a 98 carb which I will be commuting 90 miles a day on. Will need to get the shock rebuilt and the forks done but it seems so much smooth and quicker than the ace. cant wait to get riding her :-0)

Welcome to the mad house. @tu*

Not at all sure what kind of MPG you were getting out of the Thunderace but look to be getting around 160-190, maybe a bit more, to the tank with the 'bird on your day to day runs. On your other rides, a tank full can disappear pretty quickly! :-0)

Plenty to get your teeth into on here. Enjoy the banter and piss taking but most of all, enjoy the bike.

Ride safe.@tu*

I also went from a thunderace to the bird and still have it although it is a bit bent. Bought a 1070cc kit and a set of barrels but wrote it off before i could fit it.

if the carbs have been dynojetted it really screws the consumption up but a good choice, better thna the slow and ugly injected shite. My XX-W does up to 225 miles on a tank and 170+ before the fuel light comes on.

Use to get 150 before reserve light came on the Ace, haven't had chance to go through a tank on the bird yet

Mines laid up in the shed with knackered engine (bore wear) and dodgy wiring loom. Refurbing my house so never had time to play with it. Will get to it one day but more than happy with my new bike
