Just finished my spruce up ready for a trip with the boys to Strasbourg on thursday. Black forest on friday, alsace on saturday and loads of chick watchin' and beer swillin' in between. Then sunday back to good old blighty. Fitted an Ohlins rear shock and Ohlins fork springs. Nice new fork oil and seals and some new EBC HH pads all round. Oil change tonight and new rubber the morrow. (full set of Bridgestone 020's ?170 fitted at cox's motorcylces Eastleigh use him all the time highly recommended).
Visited Steve Jordan Motorcycles on saturday morning what a top man and a top place. Customer service was unbeleivable. Boy that lad knows his stuff. He did a suspension set up for me on the new Ohlins, checked the brakes and laser tracked the wheel alignement all for ?35 quid. May Sound pricey but he spent a full hour tinkering until everything was just right. He explained everything as he went along and gave me a data sheet at the end with all my settings on. 4 of us all went to him and he did their stock bikes and we all agree WOW !!!! OMFG !!!! What a difference I cant beleive its the same bike!! Its that good ! The Ohlins is a big difference and with the set-up its stonkin'
Cant wait till thursday can wait until the missus sees the credit card statement next month Gulp !! Any questions on fitment or settings post here and I will endevour to respond.

Hi,I'm about to get an ohlins shock, where did you get yours from.
How much was it and what model is it.
All prices I've seen seem to be about ?500.
Fittings it is no problem but I'm concerned about settting it up.
Some sort of guide on your weight, type of riding etc would be helpfull.
I'm 12 1/2 stone and don't take a pillion.
I've recently fitted Ohlins springs and oil the front feels really good now,a much better ride, holds a better line and I can feel whats going on.
The rear is really still good even though it's done 31000m.
However I'm going to change it for the Ohlins. Blu.

Glad Steve came up trumps, but no surprises really, he's a top geeza and a freind. There are quite a few of us who go to Steve, but believe me ?35 inc VAT, in Surrey, is not expensive. Most places no more than 15 - 20 mins away charge ?40 - ?45 an hour and they don't compare to Steve.

He'll be fitting my rear Ohlins and re-valving / re-springing the front of my bike soon.

I got the rear shock from demon tweeks who are normally the only place who keep them in stock for the Blackbird. It was ?534 you can go to Harris performance direct who are an ohlins authorised importer but they have to order them in from sweden and can take a few weeks, they only worked out a bit cheaper. I will check the suspension settings and post them on here as I have them written down at home. Im 13 stone and its set up for no pillion and fast road riding. Had a blinding time in france and germany at the weekend she felt so planted and quicker turning since I did the work. We mananged to all get there and back with no major mishaps and then my mate goes and gets knocked of is bike on the M25 yesterday morning on the way into work. It was a classic case by the car driver of lane changing without signalling looking or anything "sorry mate I didnt see you". Hes OK though wish I could say the same about is Daytona.

I'm getting a Hyperpro fitted to my bird, when I get back from holiday, Setup Engineering in Wandsworth are doing it, they were recommended to me as they setup a lot of race bikes (Bemsee etc), he's doing the front suspension as well.

I changed mine for Ohlins 1500m ago.
The origanal had done 30000 and was still ok the only reason I changed was to improve the hadling and comfort over the 0.e. one and it's certainly done that:lol: blu.

Ohlins for me

I'm having a Ohlins rear shock with remote fitted and a full front Ohlins Front conversation ( got to be an improvement to the Hypa-pro)
Mick gardener racing is supplying
Rear shock ?658.00
Fr forks ?70 + oil

Previously the bike had been lowered 5mm at front and raised at
back which really quickend the bike up ( although not recommended with the Ohlins set up)
and with the full set of 'Braking' Wavy disc's & light weight wheels
Bring on the bends

errr you dont get full ohlins conversions on the front forks for 70 + oil..you might just squeeze a pair of springs for that price tho8ree!

whilst the missus is out

 i can't let the wife know how much i spent.
but you were right the front forks came in at
?288. all in
the rear is as said
the wheels are still being made, by Marvic's
the price, just shy of ?1200 and remember those with carb models, if you want a full wavy brake set up you must get a front wheel from an injection model(the offset is different)

the new rear shock goes in tomorrow (this might sound sad but
the ohlins is a thing of beauty) and so close to valentines, only one thing for it
better go and and celebrate with the old bird (blackbird)

Surprisingly...

... Ohlins custom made, fully adjustable, upside down forks with custom yolks, approx ?2,200 (last summer's estimate).

Ian McCleod at Harris Performance is the man who can make it happen.

At last got the forks back and the new rear shock.
front end feels much better.
as for the rear? well early days as i'm still trying to find a set-up that suits me
so if any one has any setting advice then i would appreciate any!
being that i'm only a puny 11+ stoner.
i rarely carry a pillion and prefer rast road set-up.
the standard set-up i have is 10mm static rebound 24 Comp 14
Mick gardener set-up 10mm static 15 rebound 10 comp

many thanks

Steve Jordan....

... is the man who does a wicked suspension setup. Not a million miles from you near Leatherhead in Surrey.

He's done ohlins setups on a few birds off this forum... (including mine) and he's not expensive given his location. Ex racer, - knows his onions...
