Thought I'd join up here having just bought a '98 Blackbird. Bit of a change from the old bikes I've had but wanted something for longer distance touring and commuting. Known a few guys whove had 'em and loved 'em so figured I might as well give one a shot.

So, yeah.... Hi :yo:

Welcome Flak Monkey.

Get stuck in and realise that most of the piss-taking on here is meant to be good humoured. Doesn't always come over that way though. 8rfl@

Evening chaps and chapess's!

Just bought a bird and took it for my first outing last night. Only did 34 miles but still in pain (do you have to be a 6' 6" Orangatang to ride one?)
Think the first thing is bar riser / conversion, or maybe try and get used to it. Dunno yet. To early to decide after 34 miles I suppose.

Anyway, this looks to be a good site for everything blackbird so I'll pull up a chair if you don't mind

(Thanks to John for regisrtering for me- couldn't even manage that myself. What hope have I got with anything else....Tsk!)

Yeah I kind of thought that myself.
Other bike is a Yam XJR so completely different riding position. Honda seat height is higher too (I think) so bound to need some getting used to.
I need to spend on panniers for a planned touring hol, so perhaps I should get those first, then worry about the bars.

As for wanking- I don't want to do the missus out of a job do I? :whi5tl:

Hello All,

Newbie to the forum and newbie to the bike world as well. Previously owned a CBR 600 F-M model, used it as a commuter bike to keep insurance down so can save up for a CBR XX Super Blackbird.

Became proud owner of such a bike on 01/11/2014 and have been loving the bike since. Bought it 2nd hand with full Givi luggage and aftermarket cans, only problem I find is I still get wrist ache and the oxford heated grips are not doing the job effectively, looking at getting heated gloves.

Still have not taken any pictures of me on the bike guess will do that soon. Riding a 600 and going straight to a 1137 was very interesting, I did not feel the speed as the bike came with a double bubble screen, so head wind was not an issue, until I looked down at the speedo and i was doing well in excess of 110miles/hr Whoops!!. Need to watch the urge to go fast.

Looking for lots of advise to get some modifications added to my BB when I settled into the beast a bit more :)

Wotcha!

Evening all,

Hoffymeister (aka Dave) here... Now the proud owner of a '96 Blackbird (with only 25000 on the clock!)

Bit of a jump from a '95 ZZR600 but needs must!

Been a 'Kwaka-man' for most of my Riding life - GPZ305, GPz600R, ZX6R, a red & black ZZR600. Followed by a couple of years experiencing a Hyosung GT650R which, after my insurance company wrote it off , was followed by another ZZR600 - borrowed on a permanent temporary basis from the other half! ;-0))

I live on the South Coast and am hoping to do a few biking tours next year with the better half.

Welcome Mahendran and Hoffymeister.

This thread doesn't get a lot of attention. Best go start one in the coffee shop slagging fat poof plumpy off if you want some kind of response and to endear yourself to others. Mind Pooh Plow the kiddie fiddler though.

Popular place tonight with another newbie here. Picked up a 35k mile 53 plate blue bird a couple of weeks ago and the pulse is still racing!! Moved on from a guzzi V10 so quite a step change as I've never had a big jap bike before.
