Went to an open day today to see and try the new variable valve 1250 today
Handles the same as the 12's
It has about 135 BH at the crank ( so about 120 at the back wheel )
BUT, it is 10 kilos heavier
They have have fiddled with the suspension and on its lowest setting I can actually flat foot the thing

The engine is MUCH sweeter.. Unlike the previous models it does not rattle, and is so smooth it almost feels like an inline four.
The TFT screen is bloody good.. An option on previous models, it seems like a standard fit now. ( though there are a few murmurs concerning its connectivity )

Another innovation is for £300 extra you can have an SOS button fitted.
When activated it connects with emergency services

The feature is standard fit in Bmw cars.

Wonder why they feel the need to charge for this in bikes?

Of all the creations from Honda of late absolutely nothing appeals to me. I have two Birds and they can happily stay until something more iconic comes into play. The AT appears to have been plagued with elements of corrosion and looks odd anyhow. That VFR12 is not what was expected and everything else.... just appears to be boring?

You are so right
Honda motorcycle division lost the plot around 2006
They were in dire financial trouble at the time.. Sadly they have just never recovered.... I have no idea who the designers are but I suspect they may be double agents.
Work for one of the other big Jap manufacturers on the sly and told to fuck with anything Honda produces !

I mean, the most exciting thing to come out of Honda for the past 5 years has been the re-release of the Monkey bike, complete with its 49 year old engine design

I’ll wait for the new GS A and pick one up in about four years when I get bored of mine.

I love the TFT, it’s bloody awesome and I’ve not had an issue with mine. Yet.

I should have qualified this a bit.

First of all, it’s big. It’s bloody big, so all the info is clearly visible. It’s a glossy screen, which might make you think it’s difficult to see in bright sunshine. It isn’t, whether sun is in front or behind. The TFT is easily controlled from the whirly wheel on the inside (as in by your thumb) of the left grip, which has a tri-way movement; it wheels forward and backward and can be nudged inwards. The info displayed is just about everything on the bike, including:
Speed
RPM
Temperature
Riding mode
Mileage
Trip
Tyre pressures
Fuel level
Miles remaining on tank
Heated grips on 1 or 2
Various warnings
And, um, that’s all I can remember for now.

Upshot is that I now wouldn’t spec a GS (A) without one.

It’s a bit eye-watering but it’s loaded, and I mean loaded. I have the Triple Black version and she (yes, Andrew, she. She, she, she! :devil-flip:) was a factory order. The only factory options available were TFT, alarm, SOS emergency call and lowered suspension for short arses. I had them all except for the lowered suspension, as I’m not vertically challenged.

The sat nav and boxes are a dealer fit and they were running a promotion for both at a combined price of £2,000, saving £260 off retail. What stuck in my throat though is the £70 for a backrest for the top box when carrying a pillion.

How on earth can that price be justified for a motorbike??

Pro tanto that is dreadful value compared to a car.

Well, that puts my old car satnav and JAWS throwovers in the shade a bit... I reckon that lot cost about as much as your savings...!
