I’m not enjoying the considerable wait for stuff - let alone the considerable expense

I suppose I shouldn’t have built up the ground down bracket, clearly it was meant to be to allow the gearbox to swing. Good job there’s a reason for a ‘dry build’

I just had to bolt on the seat brackets to see how it will look, obviously the scrap alloy tank will not be used. Then I’ve had to mod the engine plates to allow it to be used with a slickshift gearbox. Another reason to do a dry build and not just assume stuff will fit. Now I can’t go any further until I have a bare set of crankcases to allow me to line up the engine plates, gearbox and engine, in order to then adapt the engine plates to allow me to use a centrestand. The new stud and distance piece don’t seem to be correct

The battered fuel tank is just parked there as I will be flogging it off later on. Unless I get it sorted and painted up. I have a new one being made for me.

I took the swingarm out to my mechanic mate to get the old bushes removed prior to getting it powdercoated. They wouldn’t press out even using his 20 tonne press. But they didn’t stand a chance faced with the hot spanner.
Monday I’ll take the frame and assorted other bits off to the powdercoater

I’ve just had a phone call from the engineer doing my engine overhaul. He’s sent the Morgo 750 barrels away to be honed to see if the original standard pistons can be reused, and no they can’t. It needs a first oversize rebore and pistons +20thou. One of the old pistons is also distorted as well.

Morgo don’t have any pistons apart from std. However, he’s found a set of +20s in Germany. :ole:

I’ve had a look on their website and they’ve got quite a good selection of stuff, so I’ve bookmarked them for future reference.

After my time away the powdercoaters have finished my frame and bits, so I collected them earlier today. I can now set to doing some proper reassembly. First if all I need to get the swingarm off to my pal and his 20tonne press to insert the swingarm bearings. Unfortunately my engine appears like it may well be a long term wait…….
