My straight bar conversion

So I decided to do the straight bar conversion, sent a message to Karen at JAWS and arranged to collect a kit, I then receive a message from Karen saying there are problems with the kit she has and she needs to send them back to the manafacturer for adjustment, bugger really wanted to get the job done NOW! So in my impatience I googled straight bars and found a company in Lancaster called "Top Yolks" had a chat with Matt who owns the company and is also a keen biker and arranged to pick up a yolk from him, Matt gave me some really good advice on which bars to fit etc, but I still had no real instructions :bang:
Anyway picked up a set of renthal bars and set to work. Had to remove the existing top yolk and drill out the security bolts holding the ignition in place, looked at lots of conversion pictures of the JAWS kit picking up tips and hints along the way, but it was a real bugger to fit without any instructions, my advice is don't go down this route, buy a JAWS kit and you will save yourself lots of headaches.
Just as I finished fitting it got a message from Karen to say she has got a kit in!! :bang::bang:

Matt made my busa top yoke conversion.

Yeah nice guy, I phoned him in the morning, he didn't have any Bird yokes in stock, so he made this one and I then met him at Blackburn services as he was on his way to Burnley and I was working near Blackburn @tu*

Just been out for a bit of a test ride, comfy position, a bit light at the front :whi5tl:

That looks really good fitted but I'm still trying to figure out what is hard about a top yoke swap apart from the ignition bolts :dunno:

Re routing all of the cables, trying to get extra length out of the cables, cutting the lugs off the master cylinders, drilling the bars, etc, etc

Unlike the JAWS conversion I unfortunately had no instructions.....

Had a good ride out today and really enjoyed the new bar position, I think this conversion is not as high or as far back as the JAWS conversion and maybe the bars are not as wide?

With you on the re-routing it took a while to get mine to run smooth, didn't need to cut anything off the master cylinders though, so not sure what you mean there!

The bars look a similar width to mine but I set mine at a higher angle as I found them more comfortable that way, this meant I had to trim the screen a tad for clearance, worth considering if they are not quite right for you as they are :-0)

That looks a nice neat job, (apart from the forks sitting proud above the yoke) it doesn't look like an add on.
