My RiderSkills day at Llandow

Well last weekend Derek and I disappeared off to Llandow in South Wales myself to do a Rapid Skills 1 morning and Derek to do a Knee Down afternoon!!!!

Great fun, excellent tuition, was personally taught by one of the best instructors in the country..........Andy Morrison. This training day is in conjuction with RiDE and Rapid. Really good. I learnt so much. This was my first time with the CBR on the track, after the NTV chugging round the tracks I was hoping it would be better, not disappointed I have to say that I nearly laughed all the way round as it was sooooooooooooo much fun!! Infact I do confess to shedding some tears at the end of the morning as I was really so overcome by the learning curve.

Put some photos here................and yes, I know the answer to the question "Does my bum look big on this"

Couple of photos of my tyres at the end. Could be better but hey, I am pleased!

what a difference to the NTV, this thing goes big time! It just sort of flows!

Derek took these photos so they are not the best in the world, you should have seen the others!!!!!

Also is a pic of Derek finally getting his knee down. He is riding a track CBR6 that he has helped to do up with some friends.

Stan..............

check out here...............Rapid Skills

and here...............Rapid Tracks

Couldn't go with a better company. Derek and I have between us done I reckon over 10 days with them now. Safe and well organised. Excellent for newbies and more advanced. They don't take nonsense from any Carl Fogarty wannabies!!!!

Well done Alison

Good to see that you and Derek are enjoying your biking.
Onward and upward.
You're doing what we all should be doing. Improving.

Yep I'm up for it.
It's that blasted shi(f)t work that gets in the way. I don't get weekends off at all, work every one apart from when I'm on hols. So for me it's a bit awkward. Took me 2 years for my shifts to fall OK to attend a Cloggers rideout !

It doesn't work like that

at our place Ian.
I am the chief of a small (9 man) team. We work at the absolute minimum manning level and everyone is dedicated to the team and work colleagues in other teams. If somebody goes sick the remaining team members have to absorb the extra duties. In the potentially dangerous environment of the petro chemical industry, safety and "looking after" everybody is paramount. Everybody knows this and so we help each other. We do have a number of lieu days that are accrued over the year and we are allowed to take a shift off but it is not guaranteed. You can be called in even if you have booked a lieu day if somebody went sick. So everybody works for mutual benefit. There is no invisible "them" or "company". We have a sickness record second to none and this is because of the committed, "ownership" attitude that has been built up over years.
As a Shift Supervisor I not only have to set a good example but I am part of the team. We don't and cannot afford to let our colleagues down. In these cynical times I am proud to work alongside such dedicated guys upon whom I know I can rely.
Sorry if this comes over a bit strong, it's not meant to. People who work in the oil industry will know what I'm talking about. It is a different work world.

KIN ELL, Roxxo  its been bloody YEARS since Ive met anyone with that outlook, sorry "in hindsight" to have "lumped" you with the rest of us poor pion's, all I can say is I'm one jealous git, :dunno:
mind you Ill bet your paid a "fair" wage in light of your revelations, :dunno:
its just a shame that the firms I have worked for all pay "lip service" to the "team" effort, but shove it up you at the first opportunity, tends to give one a "slightly" more cynical outlook on life, :dunno: see you on the "morrow" Tea`s on me, + the package for you,

but finding the time off and it being a bit of a hike up the country. We are on the South Coast literally. Getting past the M25 is a nightmare. I also will not ride that distance and then do a track day. So we have to use the trailer. Mind you Derek will have to use that with the track bike anyway. Yes, it does sound a bargain, but my next objective will probably be Brands Hatch with Focused Events as that is fairly local to us and will not involve accommodation and ridiculous amounts of fuel.

JOeboy........................I shall pass that one on to him, remember to wear your helmet next time you get together at Brands.................. c7u8
