My new(ish) bike !

I know a few know about my weird bike taste, but recently I got rid of the Crosstourer which although great at what it did )long distance miles in total comfort) I needed something that I could use on the back roads around here during the winter. The CT was far too big and heavy for these roads so I swapped it for a 2011 Transalp 700 !

I had one 13 years ago so knew what they were like but to be honest this one is a vast improvement and although only had it 3 weeks it really is a competent little (isn) bike that is so easy to ride and throw around these roads now its dark and a bit greasy on the commute.

We went 2 up across to Banchory today, first time Janice had been on the back and no complaints whatsoever. Aiming to use it to go over the the West Coast next year, we did that a few years back on the F800GS but we all know how that bike ended up !

I reckon this will be ideal for the single track roads over there.

For those into nakeds, this is my CB1000R which I have just fitted an under tray and tail tidy.

This is a hoot to ride in the right conditions, so not now !!

Hopefully get the odd day during the next few months to go and have a play !

Good to read about the Transalp. I know the tank is, erm, er, "compact" but it would be good to learn about the fuel consumption and mile per tank as if you are recording such things.

Has the spacer arrived yet Russ?

Well mate so far the tank gets about 160 miles till its on fumes which equates to about 55 mpg which is just slightly less that the 800GS I had but I love the ride. Dead easy on these pishy little back roads to work.

Not a motorway blaster, obviously, but the 10 mile dueller I do in the mornings it will easy hit 3 figures if I have to so doesn't hang about !

No spacer yet mate, although knowing our Post it could be anywhere !!

Hey Mr Boggy !

I meant to thank you earlier for the Spacer which finally arrived last week, bloody Post Office refused to put it through the letter box because they wanted 11p extra postage, and of course they then addded ?1 for the privilege !

Plus we then had to go up to the sorting office to pay them and get hold of it !!

What a shower of thieving twats !

Sorry, thanks for sending it !!

I'm glad it arrived but sorry that you've had to go to this trouble to get the thing. The thing barely weighs anything and I'm sure within their specifications but then this is the so called Royal Mail we are talking about! :wank:

I'm more than happy to send you money via PayPal for your losses, after all perhaps I should have ensured that I had packaged it correctly and paid RM the correct money as clearly a first class stamp wasn't enough for them. Sorry mate.

No need mate, we have a lot of trouble with our posties not using common sense, we get one that lasts for a while and they are fine but then they change them and the next numpty plays it by the book.

Thanks for sending it though @tu*

noobie

Clueless in most things
You could have put a tmi warning on your title.

I opened the thread and that bike colour reminded me of my nans slippers and the next door Romanians shell suit ffs.

i Used to have a transalp before I got my first bird.
Tried it on wet chalk lanes in kent and scared myself as NO grip at all and too heavy to hold up with front end slides. apart from that a comfy reliable machine.

Got all the interesting bits fitted now, mainly the FUEL Exhaust and DeCat Pipe which makes it sound a lot more interesting !!

The FUEL Exhaust is on , I took the baffle out and it seems a lot smoother and responsive, and noisy !!

VIDEO HERE

I think the new seat by Alistair Else (HERE) looks really good, you can also see a bit more of that on the video.

I got a pair of 18watt CREE LED's and I reckon the back roads on the commute will be a lot safer now.

The crash bars are from HEAVYDUTY and are solid, HERE

SW-Motech Centrestand also fitted, gap underneath doesn't look too bad once the Cat was removed.

The Screen is an MRA one. now all I need is for the roads to clear !
