Dainese trousers for the road

crashed in 'em 3 times - still going strong  But these are old skool Dianese, new stuff is shite  If you can afford BKS consider Hideout or Carrera, but BKS are the Rolls Royce. I here good things about Wolf too. Whatever ya do stay clear of Kangaroo leather - all the rave a couple of years but folks are now discovering it doesn't recover it's shape once properly stretched so if ya intending to keep 'em another 17 years, probably not a wise move!!!!!!!!

Rob. I've never heard of IXS but INXS were a decent band

IXS are a good German brand second only to Harro. They used to be imported by Nevis marketing, but that was a few years ago, don't know who the importer is now!

Kangaroo skin is OK if you do not sweat. By its very nature, the skin has to be treated with a chemical to prevent the fibres splitting when in contact with sweat, but they are very supple, very light and do offer terriffic abrasion resistance.

Any garment that is made from Brazilian hide (Wolf, Scott etc) or from the hide of the Southern German cow (Black Forest area) Harro, are regarded as being the hides to go for. The likes of BKS are excellent, but if you feel the heat then come the summer time you will be on the verge of keeling over as they are so heavy, hence the reason most Police forces no longer use them and why I have two brand new sets in the loft I have never used!

I've had a look at some new Dainese kit and wasn't overly impressed......:t

Will check out BKS and hideout....crowtree I think are supposedly pretty robust pieces of kit....I don't want to buy kit for the name, I want something that is going to last and protect should the terrible happen....cheers DS...

I bought some Hein Gericke stuff for my wife a few years ago, bloody rubbish fell to pieces....not sure if they have improved recently ?

Forgot to mention that Harro used to do a 5 year daily use guarantee, HG in this country is not the same quality as in Germany (HG himself hates the English), but if you want to mix a holiday with buying some new kit, nip out to Sialkot in Pakistan and pick yourself up a branded suit, jacket or whatever for about ?10 straight from the factory.

As an alternative, visit Brick Lane in London as quite a few of the factories have outlets here in London, but there is still import duty and VAT as well as a profit for the shop to be made.

Last time I was in Silakot I picked up a Dainese (which IMO is still highly over rated and over priced) two piece for a buddy, ?12 with all the armour fitted!

TC, I think Nevis are the distributors for Richa who use Brazilian hide too. I recently got a Richa jacket just for street riding which I'm pleased with, but have to say when you compare my Dianese / MW gear & my g/f's Alpinestar gear to my Carrera 1-piece, the quality is obvious.
I know the Met Police use MW Leathers which is also worth a shout if ya looking at M-2-M.

MW are superb and Mike offers a very good service. I actually prefer MW to BKS, but that is just a personal matter of taste.
