My First Blackbird..

Hi, New here..

I have just purchased my first Honda CBR1100 Blackbird. I have owned many bikes over the years, but after 5 years away from the bike scene, I'm looking forward to getting back into it with the CBR.

The bike is due to be delivered this Friday from the dealer.
It's a blue '99 FI bike, 18,000 miles, only 1 previous owner, fsh plus all MOT's and handbooks.
It's completely original apart from bar risers (may remove), crash bungs, & hugger.

Welcome,

at least you can get rid of the pink tax disc now as that will slow it down a bit.

Thanks for the welcome.

What's a little galling is, the bike is taxed until the end of the year, but..I have to 're-tax it again as the tax is now not transferable!
The government claim they are not making any extra revenue. Difficult to believe.

You're right though, once I receive my bike on Friday I will remove the disc. This will then improve the bikes power to weight ratio!! @tu*

Who will get the unused revenue, the dealer or the previous owner? :dunno:

Do dealers count as owners? :dunno:

In this instance, the dealer as they own the bike. I believe you can claim back unused tax as long as it's a complete month, but not 100% sure?

Still annoying that the bike is taxed until the end of the year...but I have to now tax it again!
I won't let it sour my excitement at getting the bike though. Just one more sleep before delivery! :-0)

good thing is you can sell your tax disk to collectors on that site when they run out

The DVLA website seems to suggest that as soon as you declare the bike/car sold or transferred to a dealer, SORN or scrapped - you will get the remaining full months back.

And keep tabs on the speedo too as you'll soon be at 3 figure speeds and wont notice as the bird handles the speed so well.
