Mrs L has just replaced her car, we haven't got around to advertising her old one yet so it still sits on the drive.
Last Friday, I saw a post in the local Faceache group from someone (lets call him Muppet) asking if anyone had any cars for sale. I said I did & to PM me.
Giving a brief description of the car, condition, mileage etc I said I was looking for £1750. I explained that as the insurance had been transferred to Mrs L's new car, he would need insurance if he wants a test drive. No problem he says, he works for a garage & is covered by 'Trader' insurance. In that case, I'll need to see the trade plate.
I got an almost immediate response back saying he'll take it sight unseen for £1000. This was accompanied by a faceache advert for a similar car (one year older) but 20,000 less miles for £955.
No he wont, after talking to Mrs L the lowest she'll go is £1500 so I relayed the info to Muppet and all went quiet. I later went on to Faceache & found the advert. it was for a 1.2 petrol (ours is a 1.9 Diesel, the lowest spec in the range , ours is the highest, it was around 200 miles away and the advert clearly stated 'Spares or repair' as the engine management light was on and it was running rough.
Last night I got another message from Muppet asking if I'd sold the car yet as he's still looking, I said it's not sold as I still haven't advertised it yet. Then this morning yet another message saying his offer still stands if I want a quick sale. I told him my offer price is still £1500 but please feel free to contact me again when he's got the full asking price.
Waiting now to see what he comes up with next.
