Hmm... as usual, the side affects from statins are very much played down.

The research is probably funded by the big pharma Co's, looking for a new outlet as large portions of the cardio market turn their back on them.
I could hardly walk when I was on them. Not taken them for over 8 years, and at my annual MOT they're happy with all my blood levels.

I take statins daily, 80mg atorvastatin and ezetimibe 10mg apparently I have genetic high cholesterol. What I do know is with them I average around 3.8, without them my highest has been 9.3

This is interesting. Weight, I was thinking of going down the keto? diet which sounds very similar to the old atkins which if I remember, has a lot of fatty meats in it?? loosing carbs but increasing fatty foods, would that not add to the cholesterol issue? genuinely don't know.

It is a common belief that fat causes cholesterol .. It is not the fat you eat it is body fat

Reducing carbs forces the body to use its own fat,
When I go on the Atkins my cholesterol drops like a stone

Yes, in the snow, where he slid, fell over and caved his skull in on a kerb, poor sod ...

Hmmmmmm, maybe, but".............

-----------------

Atkins died on April 17, 2003, at the age of 72.[2] Nine days prior to his death, Atkins fell and hit his head on an icy New York sidewalk. At New York's Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he was admitted on April 8, he underwent surgery to remove a blood clot from his brain but went into a coma and died from complications. He spent nine days in intensive care before dying on April 17, 2003.[10][11]

A medical report issued by the New York medical examiner's office a year after his death showed that Atkins had a history of heart attack, congestive heart failure and hypertension.[10][12] His widow refused to allow an autopsy.[12]

---------------

Not saying Atkins is good or bad, but plenty of medical opinion against it.......

Yes, normally from people flogging crappy diets !
After doing it on and off for 19 years I still rate it highly...
The diet was originally suggested for diabetics

Not sure about that John...!!

The few people I know that have tried Atkins found the same thing...as soon as they stopped the pounds piled back on. Seems boom or bust to me.

At the end of the day, the only guaranteed way to lose weight is to use more calories than you consume......really must get round t soon:(
