Are these screens any good?
I have tried a cheap double bubble and it was no good.
The normal screen is useless on the motorway.
Before I plunge and get one of these mra screens, I need a serious review.
Are the mra screens the same thickness as the original?
Cause that cheap double bubble was way too thin and looked awful.
Cheers

Unfortunately this is one of those items where its down to personal choice.

There was one fitted to mine when I bought the bike but I couldn't get along with it because for me and my riding position, although it did seem to reduce the wind pressure on my head it seemed to create more wind noise around it.

Somebody else same size as myself could be sat at a different angle due to where on the seat you put your backside and for them it could be the best thing ever.
So the only true way of finding out is to get one, if you don't like it sell as they tend to keep a good second hand value.

Will say they are very well made.

I had one fitted for 6 out of the 10 years we owned our bird...

It is a very well made screen. The plastic is just as good as Mr Hondas original screen. It is, as DEG5Y says, a very personal thing, as it will suit one rider, but not another (due to everyones different riding position, size, & style of riding... It certainly helped me on long autobahn rides where it kept the wind off me very nicely indeed, and if the weather was hot, then I would drop the "wing" down a bit to get some breeze to cool off...

The only downside, is the noise... It is quite a bit noisier than most other screens. And when we got our GTR, Jan was the first to say how quiet "wind-wise" the ride was...:dunno:

So. Ya pays ya money & makes ya choice...

See if you can swap one for a day or so with someone off here (they are a very helpful lot-sometimes) and see for yourself.

Best wishes,

Rolfy

Gypsy, the screen looks well.
What seat have you got?
Where from and how much?
That looks better than the original seat too.

Yeah I've had one on for a while now and find it a lot better than the DB, just my opinion of course !!

Plus it gives me more room to put the McBASH stickers on !!

Hi Greenbriggs, I would be very interested to know how you get on with your new screen - I have a double bubble screen and find it worse at autobahn speeds than the original when it comes to wind buffeting. I know it may come down to riding position and my physical stature (5'10"), but please give feedback on your impressions once you fitted and rode the bird with the new screen.
Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have any experience of the other MRA screen - the Sports Touring? It looks kinda like the Vario without the wing thingy. Also on the Jaws website.

Hi all.
Right,
I have only just fitted the screen today.
I will not get a test run until I go to work tonight.
Even that will only be through town, so no high speed runs until the weekend.
I will say this about the screen though so far......
. The holes do not line up as well as I was expecting. It was a bit of a nightmare actually.
. Obviously we all know how much hassle them well nuts are to keep in place whilst positioning the screen.
. I also don't like the gap between the screen and the fairing.
Its not an open gap, but it does not look as good as the original screen. Its better than the double bubble was though. I had to use silicone to fill the gap with that one.
The quality of the screen is superb, but I would of expected a slighter better fit (It being German engineering)...
I will of course keep you posted on high speed usage, as soon as I get the chance.
Hady.@tu*

P.s. The edges of the screen are as sharp as glass, so excersise caution when fitting.

Okay,
I took it on the bypass this morning at well over motorway speed, and I can tell you now that it has transformed the ride completely.
My head and shoulders no longer buffet about.
The only wind I could feel was on the outside of my arms and the very top of my helmet.
I had a double bubble and didn't like it either.
This has made a huge difference for the best.
I didn't even notice much in the way of extra noise.
I am 5 foot 11 and a half ;-) so you should also get great results.
I say go ahead and buy one.
You won't regret it.
Hady :)
