Suzuki stars rolling out for the Rizla Racing Day

Rizla Suzuki MotoGP racers Chris Vermeulen and Loris Capirossi will be back on track this weekend as they head to the 10th Rizla Racing Day at Assen in The Netherlands.

Vermeulen and Capirossi will be at the 4,555m Dutch circuit on Sunday 9th August to entertain the tens-of-thousands of fans that will turn up to this now traditional and unique motorsport event.

The two Rizla Suzuki MotoGP racers will do some demonstration laps on their Suzuki GSV-Rs to wow the spectators with the awesome sight and sound of a prototype Grand Prix bike, with the possibility of a few wheelies by the pair thrown in.

The Rizla Racing Day is an annual event that will celebrate its 10th anniversary this August. The event is supported by Suzuki Netherlands and had become a regular feature in the Dutch petrolhead's calendar. The Rizla Racing Day is unique due to the fact that it features many forms of motorsport during the same day, including karts, motorcycles, supercars and a round of the ATS Formel-3-cup.

The event gets underway at 10.00am local time on Sunday 9th August with Vermeulen and Capirossi taking to the track for their demo runs during the lunch-time activities. Admission to the Rizla Racing Day is free for all, with tickets and more information available online at www.rizla.nl

Chris Vermeulen:

"The Rizla Racing Day is a great event and with Rizla being the main sponsor of our team it is a great opportunity for a lot of the fans who wouldn't normally get to a MotoGP to see, hear and appreciate our GP bike. For us it is only doing some demonstration laps, but it's still a lot of fun - in fact I think this is probably the eighth time I've been to a Rizla Racing Day so I must like it! Loris and I will certainly put on a show and we'll try and do a couple of demo starts, spin -up the tyres and pull some wheelies for the crowd."

Loris Capirossi:

"I wasn't able to ride at the Rizla Racing Day last year because of an injury, but I did attend and was amazed by how good it was. To see the mixture of cars, bikes and karts all at one event was really different and Rizla certainly puts on a good show. I am really looking forward to getting on track and riding the GSV-R for a bit of fun for all the guys who will be there and putting on a good demo of the Suzuki GSV-R for Rizla and all the fans."

Raffaele de Rosa and Yuki Takahashi join Tech 3 Moto2 squad

The Tech3 Team is delighted to announce that Raffaele de Rosa and Yuki Takahashi will spearhead the French squad's exciting new Moto2 world championship project in 2010.

Italian rider de Rosa joins Tech3 having emerged as one of the brightest young talents in Grand Prix racing in 2009. He finished sixth in this year's 250cc world championship and a series of eye-catching performances earned him the coveted Rookie of the Year title.

The 22-year-old joins Tech3 full of confidence and ready for the exciting challenge ahead after a stunning finish to the season saw him claim third place in Phillip Island and Valencia.

Takahashi continues a long line of Japanese riders to work with Herve Poncharal's team and follows the likes of Shinya Nakano and Makoto Tamada in riding for Tech3. The 25-year-old finished fifth in the 2008 world 250cc championship and has won two races.

The Tech3 Team captured another sought after signature for its Moto2 project this week with Poncharal delighted to confirm Daniele Romagnoli will fill the role of de Rosa's crew chief. Romagnoli brings a wealth of Grand Prix experience and knowledge to Tech3 having worked as a crew chief for Yamaha's factory MotoGP team. Recently he worked as Jorge Lorenzo's Team Manager in 2008 and 2009 and is relishing the prospect of playing a key role in the development of the new Tech3 Moto2 bike.

Gary Reynders, who recently worked as crew chief for Colin Edwards and James Toseland in MotoGP, will move to the role of Takahashi's crew chief.

The Tech3 Team will debut its new Moto2 contender with de Rosa in Valencia at a two-day test on December 9/10. Takahashi is due to embark on a rigorous winter training regime before making his debut in early 2010.

Herve Poncharal ? Team Manager

?I am delighted that Tech3 has been able to attract such high calibre talent for our new and exciting Moto2 project. Raffaele is without doubt one of the hottest young talents we've seen for a long time and I am proud and excited about the prospect of working with him. I presented the Rookie of the Year award to him last weekend and he has impressed me a lot in 2009 and I can't wait to start working with him. I have always looked at our Moto2 team as an opportunity to develop young riders who may one day show they deserve a chance to move into MotoGP with us. I genuinely believe Raffaele has the potential to be a MotoGP rider in the future. I'm also thrilled that Yuki has joined Tech3. The French and Japanese connection at Tech3 has always worked well, particularly with Shinya Nakano, who we had a long and successful relationship with. I've no doubt that Yuki's arrival will be very positive for us. He has had a lot of bad luck recently but I can see he is very determined and highly motivated to be part of our project. I'm also very happy that Daniele Romagnoli has agreed to join us. He has a top profile but more importantly he brings a lot of technical expertise and experience with him. I've no doubt that he will be a huge asset and his input will be vital in helping us develop the new bike."

Team BMW Motorrad Motorsport launches 2010 Superbike World Championship campaign.

Munich (DE), 5th February 2010. Team BMW Motorrad Motorsport officially launched its second season in the FIM Superbike World Championship with a presentation at BMW Group Classic in Munich on Friday. With riders Troy Corser (AU) and Ruben Xaus (ES) set to commence battle for the first World Championship points of the year at Phillip Island (AU) on 28th February, the team gave international media representatives the opportunity to get an idea of the current progress of the project.

In the presence of Infront Motor Sports CEO Paolo Flammini, Superbike World Championship Director Paolo Ciabatti and a selection of other guests, Corser and Xaus laid on a spectacular show at BMW Group Classic, riding onto the stage on two BMW S 1000 RR machines. Team BMW Motorrad Motorsport recorded 17 top-ten finishes in 2009, its debut season in the Superbike World Championship.

General Director of BMW Motorrad Hendrik von Kuenheim said: ?Even back in the initial development phase of the BMW S 1000 RR we were clear that we wanted to build a supersport bike for the road with genes from the race track. Our aim was to be battling for pole position in the supersport segment straightaway ? and we did that in impressive fashion. Never before has one of our new motorcycles enjoyed such positive press reviews. Showcasing the potential of this bike on the track as well as on the road is a logical move for BMW Motorrad. The Superbike World Championship pits us against our direct competitors, and we are looking to show that we can match or even get the better of them.?

Director BMW Motorrad Motorsport Berthold Hauser added: ?Our goal is to close the gap to the leading teams. We are aiming to finish in the top five as regularly as possible and pick up our first podium. That?s the ambitious aim we have set ourselves for our second year in what is an extremely challenging World Championship. However, we are well aware that our competitors have not been standing still either. The Superbike World Championship brings us up against six motorcycle manufacturers who have established themselves on the race track. You can set yourself aims in sport and make plans to achieve them, but you cannot dictate results ? those have to be earned out on the track. Team BMW Motorrad Motorsport is working flat out to make this possible.?

The team is sticking with the experienced rider pairing of Corser and Xaus for its second year in the Superbike World Championship. Together they have notched up no fewer than 507 starts and 44 wins in this series. The ambition of two-time world champion Corser remains undiminished: ?I definitely want to win another World Championship before the end of my career. The next step along the road to achieving that goal is to collect as many top-five finishes as possible this season. You can sense the determination of BMW Motorrad to climb the ladder.?

Xaus is also aiming high for the coming season: ?I?m very happy to be competing as part of such a strong works team and to be playing my part in this project from the ground up,? explains the Spaniard. ?We are looking to take the next step in 2010 to ensure that our goals become reality in the not too distant future.?

A new addition to the team is Davide Tardozzi, a man with a proven track record in Superbike racing. The Italian will head up team management and operational control at the race tracks. Rainer B?umel will continue as Head of Overall Project Management and Project Management Engineering.

Following the tests in Portim?o (PT) and Valencia (ES), Team BMW Motorrad Motorsport is now preparing for the first race weekend of the Superbike World Championship in Australia. Further tests are scheduled at the Phillip Island Circuit on 20th, 21st and 22nd February ahead of the first race weekend of the season there commencing 26th February.

JORGE LORENZO INJURES HAND IN TRAINING ACCIDENT
Fiat Yamaha Team rider Jorge Lorenzo has undergone surgery in his right hand following an accident whilst training near his home in Barcelona yesterday, Thursday 11th February.

The 22-year-old was riding his motocross bike at the practice course near Montmel? during a routine training session as part of his pre-season preparation. He fell in a slow corner, doing approximately 30km/h, and hurt his right hand as he landed.

He was taken immediately to the Capio Hospital General de Catalunya and found to have a fracture at the base of the first metacarpal and a displaced thumb. Dr. Augusto J. Casanovas made an open reduction and osteosynthesis with a small titanium plate. Lorenzo will require hand protection for four to six weeks.

The Spaniard is leaving the hospital this morning and will return to his home in Barcelona to recuperate. He will not participate in the next Sepang test but he is expected to make a full recovery in time for the final pre-season test at Qatar in March.

FB CORSE IN THE MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Dorna confirms FB Corse entry in the MotoGP World Championship.
Valencia, 17th march 2010

Today, Franco Uncini and Oscar Gallardo have given their approval to FB Corse after a full day test in Valencia track.

After being confirmed as the new entry, the team FB Corse and Garry McCoy have decided to continue developing the FB01 and start the championship in the Jerez round.

McCoy has done a three days test with a very positive result. The FB01 has been running with no electronics for the Australian to feel the bike.

Garry McCoy: ? What we achieved today for me was remarkable because from where we started from the first day to achieve so many laps today, I really did not expect that at all. I was really wanting to go to Qatar and Japan but I think that our decision is very wise as we have to concentrate on the development of the bike in order to improve and be competitive from the first race.?

Sergio Bertocchi: ?I am really happy about all the compliments we have received from Dorna and Franco Uncini. I was not really expecting to be at that level. I am very satisfied that they allow us to enter the championship when we want and we will do the necessary development in order to enter with the best conditions.?

Andrea Ferrari: ?I am very satisfied about the results of today. The team has done a great job and they have been working very hard to achieve our main goal. Right now is very important to continue developing the bike.?

Franco Antoniazzi (Oral Engineering): ? We have done an extraordinary job today. There is an absolute symbiosis between Garry, the team and the bike that allow us to work in the best conditions. Garry has everything needed to go further with this project.?

Tomorrow the FB Corse team will continue testing in the Valencia circuit.

300th and first for Rizla Suzuki racers in Qatar

Rizla Suzuki racers Loris Capirossi and Alvaro Bautista will both achieve personal landmarks at 2010?s opening Grand Prix in Qatar next Sunday.

Capirossi will celebrate his 300th Grand Prix start when the race gets underway on Sunday evening. He already holds the record for the most Grand Prix starts of any rider in the history of motorcycle racing - his 277th race at Misano in 2008 overtook the previous record held by Alex Barros ? and the first race of 2010 will see the experienced Italian begin his 21st season - and third decade - at the pinnacle of Grand Prix racing.

Bautista will also make his own personal landmark when the former 125cc World Champion -and the Suzuki factory?s latest recruit - makes his competitive debut in the MotoGP class. Bautista has impressed during his inaugural pre-season testing campaign on a MotoGP machine and is in confident mood ahead of the 18-race championship that lies ahead of him this year.

The 5,380m Losail International Circuit is situated just outside the city of Doha in Qatar and has now become the regular first race of the season. This year will see the third running of the race during the hours of darkness, as the race and all practice will take place beneath thousands of floodlights that illuminate the circuit to give an amazing and individual feel to the event.

Rizla Suzuki takes to the track on Friday evening for the first practice session, with two further hour-long sessions on Saturday. The 22-lap race is scheduled to get underway at 23.00hrs local time (20.00GMT) on Sunday 11th April.

Loris Capirossi:

?The Qatar GP will see a big milestone in my career as I start my 300th race! I never thought I would get to this many, but I have been lucky in my career and I have always given 100% and kept myself fit so that I have been able to stay at the top. I never really think about how many races I have been in, but this number is very special and I guess it will probably never happen for another rider. Anyway, once the race has started my attitude will be the same as it was in 1990 ? full gas and full attack! The race for the team is also important because we have to continue with the improvements and good direction that we found at the Qatar test last month. I know we have some work to do, but we are very close now and all the guys in the team and back in Japan have worked really hard. I hope we can challenge the fast guys more consistently this year.?

Alvaro Bautista:

?For me this is a very important weekend because it will be my first race in MotoGP. I have done ok in testing, but racing is a different thing. I still have very much to learn about the bike and about MotoGP because it is so different from 250, so I must keep focussed and take everything as it comes. A target for this year would be to be rookie of the year, but that will be difficult because there are so many good riders and the racing will be close. I must learn step-by-step and not do anything stupid in the early races. I am really excited about my debut for Rizla Suzuki and just can?t wait to get racing!?

MIKA KALLIO INTERVIEW PRE QATAR RACE

Mika Kallio interview
1. You come from a country, Finland, "Where the green and nature" reigned supreme. How important is the environment for you?

Mika Kallio: Since from childhood we are taught to respect the environment around us. They teach us that trees, forests and lakes that surround us are our property and that we must take care of all in order to safeguard them as much as possible.
The town where I was born, Valkeakoski, is surrounded by greenery and a natural lake, one with the clearest water in the world.

2. Who much are you sensitive to alternative energy

MK: I think that now everyone can use renewable energy. In recent years there are so many technologies that has been developed that allow each person to be able to produce their own need for domestic energy, installing solar panels on the roof of their home or garden. Climate change is taking place in recent times and it can been seen from everyone, the objective to lower down or to eliminate their emissions of CO2 should now become customary for everyone. During a Germany trip, I got to see how the Germans do derive more than 12% of its energy needs from renewable sources and their objective is to increase this statistic year by year. I think this could be a primary goal of all European nations.

3. In your normal life, when you're at home, how you contribute to the environment protection?

MK: Concerning my private life style. I own a house that has a very low environmental impact. In Finland we use special double glazed windows that are almost completely insulated, even my house has this kind of windows. This prevents by burning heaters all the day. I also take great care to differentiate the trash and buying energy-efficient appliances.

In my holiday house I do not have electricity and I'll like to turn it into a self-sufficient house with some solar panels and also the new wind turbines designed by Philippe Starck for Pramac could give me a big hand. I was in Milan during the world premiere of the wind turbines and I must say that they are very beautiful. I'll have to ask Paolo Campinoti a discount on products, even according to my results on the track!

4. Speaking about you on the track, what do you expect from your second season in the top class motorcycling, the MotoGP?

MK: My first year in MotoGP has been full of satisfactions, I was voted "Rookie of the Year", and I was able to obtain a good feeling with the motorbike. Considering Losail test results, I cannot deny that for the second season I expect to be able to get involved in the first group of eight. I feel very much the presence and confidence that the team has placed in me and I hope to reciprocate this trust with tracks results.

5. Which is you target for this year? How do you see your teammate, Aleix Espargaro?

MK: My second year purpose his to try to fight for the podium in some race. Aleix is a very determined guy, he has already gained a bit of experience in MotoGP last year, both in the GP when he replaced me and the ones that ended the season. During winter test he has improved a lot with excellent results. We share the desire to repay the faith that the team has placed in us. I think that we'll be good allies, being also the youngest riders pairing of all the MotoGP.

ALEIX ESPARGARO' INTERVIEW

1. You are very young rider we can defined you as "new Energy" of MotoGP. Do you think that it's important for a team of MotoGP (the maximum in technology) to help the care of the environment?

Aleix Espargar?: I think it's very important that the Pramac Racing Team is dedicated to this new initiative becoming the Green Energy Team. Usually motor world is associated to the idea of large energy consumption and a low consideration for the environment around us.
The Pramac Racing Team want to try to change a bit this philosophy by implementing some measures which may reduce the impact we have on the environment. This will allow us to have a extra gear.

2. You are Spanish, "sun, sea and wind" are typical of your country, these are also the "renewable energy" by definition. Do you recognize yourself in the spirit of The Green Energy Team ?

AE: In Spain we are lucky to have many natural sources from which we can produce energy, we have the sun for almost all the days of the year. There are always more and more people who buy technology to generate energy from renewable sources in order to become self-sufficient, many other are adopting a lifestyle that has low environmental impact, such as the purchase of recycled products and environmentally friendly.
I am very happy to be part of a team that embraces the green philosophy, associate energy savings to a MotoGP team is a great initiative. I also really like the green livery!

3. In your normal life, when you're at home, how you contribute to the environment protection?

AE: When I'm at home I always try to not to consume electricity in excess, I do not leave the lights on and eat hot water when is not necessary. With my family I worry about making the collection of waste in different boxes. The team initiative had made me think a lot on the alternative energy and I am considering installing solar panels at my house too.

4. Speaking about you on the track, what do you expect from your first season in the top class motorcycling, the MotoGP?

AE: I expect to show my value even in MotoGP class, I gained a bit of experience last year during the four races I've raced in where I collected sixteen points. During the last test in Qatar I have gained more feeling with the GP10 sat, I am very satisfied with the work we have done in the box during the pits as I was able to obtain the tenth place finish, a good starting point for my first season in MotoGP.

5. Which is your target? How do you see the home duel with your team mate Mika Kallio?

AE: The aim is to repay the big trust that the team has given me this year confirming me after the four GP that I made last Championships. I would like be able to enter in the top ten riders. Mika is a great teammate, this is the second year in MotoGP for him, but he has already gained a great experience. I will try to steal some advice from him. I would love to emulate his first year of MotoGP ended with the winning of the Rookie of the Year title.

Capirossi to be honoured for 300th Grand Prix start

Rizla Suzuki MotoGP star Loris Capirossi will today be presented with an award from Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta to commemorate his scheduled 300th Grand Prix start on Sunday.

The three-time World Champion will receive the award in a special ceremony at the Losail International Circuit just before this evening?s front-row press conference, which will immediately follow tonight?s qualifying session.

There will also be a change to Capirossi?s normal on-track identity for tomorrow?s 22-lap Qatar GP, and all will be revealed at a photo session in the Rizla Suzuki pit-box at 22.20 on Sunday evening.

Capirossi?s amazing record stretches back to 1990 when he became the youngest-ever motorcycling World Champion ? a record that still stands today. In an amazing career spanning 21 years and three decades, the 37-year-old Italian has raced in 39.3% of all Grand Prix events ever staged since the start of the World Championship series back in 1949. Capirossi has finished in a point scoring position a record 245 times, raced at 41 different Grand Prix circuits and he is only one of two riders to have won on 125cc, 250cc and 500cc two-stroke, 990cc four-stroke and 800cc four-stroke machines ? the only other being Valentino Rossi. He also only needs one more top-three finish to reach another milestone, that of 100 podium finishes.

Enrico Cappanera - Energy Resources CEO
"The challenge of bringing the green philosophy in the motorcycling world"

"The challenge of bringing the green philosophy in the motorcycling world has strongly encouraged us - said Enrico Cappanera, CEO of Energy Resources - this is the reason why we wanted to embrace this innovative choice by Pramac, which we have an important collaboration for several years that concerns the innovative technical components that we use in our renewable energy plants. As a sponsor of The Green Energy Team we will support all the initiatives that help to reduce CO2 emissions in the atmosphere and to create awareness on the sustainable development issues."

Rossi and Lorenzo second and third after busy day's testing

The Fiat Yamaha Team made the most of a rare day's testing at Jerez, one of the few post-race tests they will have this season. Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo had a busy and successful day, finishing second and third respectively in the standings behind Dani Pedrosa.

Rossi, who finished third in the race on Sunday, worked with his crew to improve the M1 race setting, trying to understand the problems that had hampered them during the weekend. It was a largely successful day as his fastest time was an improvement on his best time from the weekend. He also tried a new engine evolution, which it is hoped will improve acceleration, reporting a small improvement. The Italian had one upset during the day when he had a low-speed crash at turn two, luckily causing no further damage to his recovering shoulder.

After his incredible home win, Lorenzo had to delay the celebrations one day more in order to get back on board yesterday. The main aim for his side of the garage was to try to improve his starts and his early race performance, and the Spaniard did over 20 practice starts during the day. He too had some new parts to try, including a chassis development, electronics and the modified engine. Lorenzo, who turns 23 today, finished the day in third, just behind his team-mate.

Valentino Rossi - Position: 2nd Time: 1'39.480 Laps: 61

"We improved our race setting a bit and found better stability and grip, so we arrived at the right place finally, even if we were too late for the race! We tried a new front tyre for Bridgestone, which was good and also a slightly different engine from Japan, trying to improve the acceleration. The difference was small but important, although we don't know yet when we will be able to use it in a race. My lap times were fast and apart from the small crash, when I just put a bit too much lean on and lost the front, it was a good day. I was only doing 65 km/h so luckily it wasn't a problem. Now we have a long rest and I want to fully recover so I'm back to full strength in Le Mans."

Jorge Lorenzo - Position: 3rd Time: 1'39.506 Laps: 71

"It was an interesting day. Most of all we worked on our starts; I think I did something like 25 starts! I do find it quite difficult because the clutch and acceleration aren't always the best parts of our package, but today was good to understand how we can improve. We also tried some new electronics, including traction control, and chassis parts, as well as trying a slightly different engine. The difference wasn't big but I did notice it, so I think this is the right way. Today is my birthday and I am looking forward to finally celebrating my win!"

Davide Brivio - Team Manager
"This was a very positive test because we tried many things and got some good information. The first important thing was to try to improve the setting of the weekend and understand where we went wrong, and this was more or less successful. Then we tried some different electronic maps and a new front Bridgestone which was very promising. Finally we tested a slightly different engine; a developed model that we may not see soon but our feedback will be very valuable for Yamaha in their future work. An important day's work."

Wilco Zeelenberg - Team Manager

"Today was very interesting, especially because we don't have many tests this year. We worked largely on trying to understand why Jorge is so much faster later in the race and also we worked on starts, because we need to improve them too. We found out some interesting information, which will help us to understand how to have the same speed throughout the race. We need to go to another track now to get a better idea of the situation but hopefully the work we've done will be very useful."

MotoGP comes to the Isle of Man with Rizla Suzuki

Rizla Suzuki MotoGP and Loris Capirossi will be heading to the Isle of Man for the famous TT races in June to help Suzuki celebrate its 50th racing anniversary.

The Suzuki Motor Corporation celebrates 50 years of International racing at this year?s Isle of Man TT races - the venue where it all began in 1960 - and the Japanese manufacturer has announced another ?first? on the Island, with the news that Capirossi?s GSV-R MotoGP machine will make a lap of the famous TT course ? the first ever modern-day four-stroke Grand Prix motorcycle to lap the 37.73 mile (60.72km) course.

Capirossi?s Suzuki GSV-R800, that took him to his 300th Grand Prix race start at the opening round of the 2010 world championship at Qatar in April, will be piloted by 2008 TT winner Cameron Donald ? the first man to complete the Isle of Man circuit at 131mph (210.82km/h) - straight after the final race of this season?s TT calendar on Friday 11th June. Capirossi will also join in the celebrations as he will lead the Friday morning parade lap accompanied by Rizla Suzuki Team Manager Paul Denning, both onboard 2010 Suzuki GSX-Rs ? a machine that is itself celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.

The GSV-R lap in the hands of Donald will be the crescendo of a week of activities on the Isle of Man as this year?s TT looks set to be owned by Suzuki, with a host of events and attractions taking place throughout race week of the famous festival.

With Suzuki GSX-R1000s the chosen marshal bikes for this year?s event, thanks to Suzuki GB becoming the official TT manufacturer partner, fans will get ample opportunity to revel in the brand?s 50th anniversary with events happening all over the Island.

The Suzuki racing flag on the roads will be flown by Donald?s ?Relentless Suzuki by TAS? team where he will be racing alongside team-mate and former TT winner Bruce Anstey. Suzuki will also have a special exhibition at the Manx Museum, as well as backing the famous Ramsey Sprint events on Sunday 6th and Tuesday 8th June, the Laxey Motorcycle Show on 10th June and the Suzuki parade on the final day of TT fortnight. With an all-star cast of men - including Capirossi - and machines present, this year?s TT certainly looks like being a feast for all things Suzuki!

Loris Capirossi:

?I am really excited about visiting the Isle of Man and supporting Suzuki?s 50th year celebrations, it will be great to go there and be involved. I?ve never been to the TT before so it will be amazing to see those ?crazy? guys on the racetrack, but I?m not sure it can really be called a racetrack with all those houses and things around - it?s not like any track I?m used to! I think it is an event that everybody interested in motorcycle racing should go to at least once in their life and after the first time I?m sure I?ll go back again. I want to do one full lap ? but not as fast as those guys ? so I can see for myself what it?s like and what they have to contend with.?

Cameron Donald:

?To be given the opportunity to ride a MotoGP bike is one thing, but to be offered the Rizla Suzuki GSV-R is a dream come true for me. If I?d been given the opportunity to ride it at a circuit ? any circuit ? I?d have been more than happy, but to ride it around the world famous Isle of Man TT circuit where I ply my trade, is another thing altogether.

?I spent time with the Rizla Suzuki guys at Phillip Island last year and they made me feel more than welcome. Loris Capirossi is a great guy and a Grand Prix legend, so to ride one of his bikes is an honour. I know these things don?t get pulled together overnight, so I?d especially like to thank everyone at Suzuki and team bosses at Relentless by TAS Suzuki and Rizla Suzuki ? Philip Neill and Paul Denning - for making this possible.

?It?s a special year for Suzuki as a manufacturer and a very special anniversary for the GSX?R range. So while I will be aiming to put the Relentless by TAS Suzukis on the top step of the podium this year on the Island, riding the GSV-R will be the icing on the cake.?

Paul Denning ? Team Manager:

?With 2010 being the anniversary of Suzuki?s 50th year in mainstream motorcycle racing and with Mr Ito remaining as the only Japanese winner of an Isle of Man TT race, we?re very excited about providing TT fans with the first-ever opportunity to witness a full-blown four-stroke MotoGP bike being hurled around the mountain course. I would say that of all the TT fans who will be excited about this news, that the most excited will be Cameron Donald and we?re really pleased to give him this special opportunity. Loris and myself will also be taking part, but at a far more sedate pace in the parade lap and he can?t wait to see the TT guys going at it for real on race-day. Despite his long history in racing it will be the first time Loris has visited the Isle of Man TT and as he?s said before - ?this racing is for real men? - and he can?t wait to be a part of it!?

Bautista sustains shoulder injury during training

Rizla Suzuki?s ?lvaro Bautista has sustained a broken shoulder whilst training in readiness for next week?s French Grand Prix.

Bautista had a fall whilst riding his motocross machine on Thursday and underwent a successful one-hour operation today to repair what his surgeon describes as a simple break to the clavicle bone in his shoulder. His medical team is confident that Bautista can ride at Le Mans next week, although it may be with some pain and restricted movement. Bautista is also sure that he will be ready for the French Grand Prix and is 100% focused on competing at Le Mans.

Therefore, Rizla Suzuki has no plans at present to replace Bautista for the French Grand

Battered Bautista determined to race in Le Mans

The third round of the 2010 MotoGP World Championship will see Rizla Suzuki riders Loris Capirossi and ?lvaro Bautista competing at the famous Le Mans circuit in France this weekend.

Following the floodlit extravaganza of Qatar and the hedonistic atmosphere of Jerez, the MotoGP cavalcade now heads to one of the most heritage-laden tracks on any motor-racing calendar. The 4,185m Bugatti circuit that is used for MotoGP was completed in 1966 and uses a part of the world-famous Circuit de la Sarthe that has hosted the 24-hour race since 1923. The twisty layout of the circuit is in complete contrast to an incredibly fast first turn that is taken almost flat-out in top-gear. The French GP is always a colourful and lively affair with as many events happening off-track as there are on.

Capirossi and Bautista have both had limited success at Le Mans and will be looking to make amends for that this weekend. Capirossi was on the podium at the French circuit in 2006 and has never finished outside the top 10 in a completed race there. Bautista has never scored a podium finish at Le Mans ? the only track on the calendar that he has raced at where he has failed to achieve such a feat.

Bautista will hopefully be fit enough to race at Le Mans on Sunday despite breaking his clavicle bone in a training accident last week. He underwent a successful hour-long operation and his surgeons have given him the all-clear to compete in France.

Rizla Suzuki takes to the track on Friday 21st May for the first free practice session of the weekend. This will be followed by a second session on Saturday morning, with an hour of qualifying in the afternoon. Sunday?s 28-lap race will get underway at 14.00hrs local time (12.00hrs GMT).

Loris Capirossi:

?I really need to get on track again as it seems like the season is yet to get going, it?s amazing to think we?re almost in June and we?ve only done two races! With such little action it is difficult to judge where we are at the moment, but the one-day test after the last race in Jerez was very good for us and we made some positive steps. Le Mans is always a gamble because you never know what weather to expect - we have heard it should be good but you can?t always guarantee that so we will need to be ready for anything. On thing is for sure, I am ready to get back to work and excited about the prospects we have ahead ? and I hope Alvaro is ready to ride, he is improving all the time and we need two strong riders.?

?lvaro Bautista:

?It seems like it has been a long time between the Jerez race and now and I want to get going again. Unfortunately for me I had a small accident last week and broke a bone in my shoulder. It has been repaired and although it is quite painful I am totally focused on the weekend ahead. Le Mans is not one of my favourite tracks and it is the only one that I have not had a podium at, so it would be great to change that as soon as possible! I was on pole there in 2009, but only finished fourth, so I need to try and break that record. I was 10th at Jerez and although I was top rookie I still want to do better. I didn?t get a very good start in Spain and I have to work on that, I did some practice in the test so I hope I will be able to improve in time for the race. Anyway, these are details ? the most important thing is just to ride the bike, I will do my best?

QUANTYA ELECTRIC BIKES FOR THE PRAMAC RACING TEAM STAFF

From the Grand Prix of Jerez, it was easy to see in the paddock four electric bikes given by the Switzerland company Quantya available for the staff of the Pramac Racing Team. The company, based in Lugano, manufactures and markets a range of electric vehicles road and sports type. The staff will use the bike to go around in the paddock, in particular the team was equipped with two Quantya "Road" model and two "Track" model. Both bikes have been customized with the colors of the Green Energy Team so that they can give more prominence and visibility to the initiative, especially on the Track models it where also applied the numbers of the two riders of the team. These are the first electric motorcycle inside the paddock and they have generated considerable curiosity, not only into the fans who rushed the circuit, but also among the experts and journalists who did not hesitate to try the bikes. Both models have a range of about 60 kilometers and can reach the high speed of 100 km/h.

Paolo Campinoti - Team Principal Pramac Racing

"Being able to use electric bikes in the paddock will be a good thing for our team, we will move during the race weekend without emitting CO2. We have reached a partnership agreement with Quantya, that will provide us the bikes during the season. We hope that the Swiss company, leader in the production of electricity supplied bike, will increase with this sponsorship the reputation into the motorcycle fans that will come to the circuits during the stages of the MotoGP World Championship. We are already thinking about some initiative that will allow all the stakeholders to try the bikes, especially we decided to organize an event in the Quantyapark near Barcelona during the Grand Prix of Catalunya weekend. In this way, many experts will be able to see the quality and the top speeds that these bikes can reach, most of the people think that electric engine is symptom of slow motion, while Quantya have nothing to envy to the bike powered by a gasoline engine."

Graziano Besana - Quantya Swiss

"Entering in to the MotoGP world which is by definition the best international motorcycling showcase is a huge challenge for us, as we have always been devoted to the production of electric bikes. We have embraced the idea of linking our brand to the Green Energy Team because of the project that they will continue during the course of this season, thanks also to our bikes, the team will reduce its C02 emissions in the air. We hope that during the various GP everyone can see our bikes and that this can increase awareness of our brand. "
