i dont understand why I apparently 'had' to make breakfast in bed for Mrs Beaker this morning.

I'm not her mother.

I made breakfast in the kitchen.

Then took it to the lazy cow still in bed.

Only one frying pan operator in our house................................. else she'd burn the fecking house down!
Neighbours know when meals are being cooked by the missus as the smoke alarm lets em all know.

Anyway, I have my Mother's Day sorted...

Imminently....preparing chicken and chorizo kebabs with spicy rice for later

12.00 Celtic v Rangers
14-05 Cardiff v Chelsea
Cooking kebabs at some point, hopefully between games, maybe earlier if Cardiff game is pants I.e. Chelsea cruising it
16.30 Liverpool v Tottenham
After that watching recorded Grand Prix
After that watching the live WGC Match play golf until the small hours

It’s not “Mother’s Day” it’s “Mothering Sunday”, a day for people to visit their mother church. Unfortunately it has been hijacked by commerce to make us feel guilty if we don’t spend a fortune on our female parent and any other woman we know who is a mother.

My mother is the greatest and refuses to let me take her out for a meal that costs double what it does the rest of the year.

Some of us don't have a mother sucking air anymore, so it's cheaper still.

I don't think mine will be around a lot longer as she's 80 in June and seems to be getting frail. I love her to bits and will miss her when she's gone but we've never really done the sentimentality thing.

My mum and mum-in-law are both 88 and look like they will go on forever so you may be surprised!!

Shame they don't seem to like each other very much though!!

An unusual and out of character trip for me. My wonderful mum passed away 6 months ago. A trip to the church to spare her some thought beckons....

Bought her a lemon tree :)
Something different !
AND did the washing up.
After some of the family converged on us yesterday I do not thing there was a clean plate, cup, knife and fork or spoon left in the house
Waited for her to go to bed and then got busy so it was all clean and tidy this morning

As to why?
Well in my case I lost my mum when I was quite young, so never had a chance really to do the full mothering Sunday thing with her
I guess I am trying to make up for it a bit

My Mother died in 76, my Father died in 2001, they were both cremated at Lawnswood crem in Leeds, there is a plaque in the memorial garden but I have never seen it, life is for living & when someone dies they are no longer here except in memory, I don’t need to travel anywhere to remember them.

The ashes of my dad and brother are scattered on top of The Seven Sisters - it's always nice to pass the spot when out walking. I will join them in due course.

We certainly gave them an amazing, if somewhat breezy, view!!(y)

I send my mum flowers every year. We only landed back from Chicago five hours ago so fucked if I’m driving a 400 mile round trip now.

I’ll go home to see mum Easter weekend, unless I’m away sorting out someone else’s fuck up (as usual).
