To the letter of the law......probably not Bert, it should fail.

I think it would be classed as interfering with the spacing of the digits on the 'plate. Got an easy MOT station near you ????

I'm sure it doesn't matter Bert - you can have all of the letters on one line if you want as long as they're the right size with the right sized spacing. I've seen some BMW's that have 3 lines of letters and numbers in a long thin plate..........

just stick a legal on for the test

probably cheaper than a re-test should it fail on that point alone.

But to be honest it'll probably fail on the basis that it's got ferkin PINK seat and KFC's the size of a bargain bucket :}

Ring up a place other than the one you go for MOTs and see what their answer is and what they think.
Don't call the place you go to ,cos if faced with the question, they may fail it if they are made aware of it or if they themeselves are unsure.

Motorcycles registered on or after 1 September 2001 must display a two-line number plate number plate. Motorcycles registered prior to the 1 September 2001 may display a three-line plate, but one-line plates are illegal, irrespective of the date of registration of the motorcycle.

The law states that,

You must not alter, rearrange or misrepresent the letters or numbers
Characters must not be moved from one group to the other (e.g. A242 ABC must not be displayed as A242A BC).
Offences may result in any or all of the following:

A fine of up to ?1,000
The registration mark may be WITHDRAWN
The vehicle may FAIL the MOT test

Sensible answer !!!!!!!!

No - it will fail

if the MOT testing station sticks to the letter of the Law. :xm

Best thing is, if you have your orginal plate, just take it along with you. If they get arsey, then offer to swop it over then and there, should shut them up! man8um

Just do it before they start the MOT test....it's illegal to do anything to the bike once the test has begun.

And we wouldn't ever consider doing anthing illegal would we? :dunno:

Certainly not Mac !!!!! But it's true.....the tester can halt the test if you do anything to the bike while it's being inspected. You still have to pay the full fee and then pay again for a re-test.

I think the trick will be to take the bike somewhere they don't have a law book up their arse.

When I bought my bike with a race can on, I specifically queried the MOT worthiness of the exhaust system. He said "If you have any problems, bring it here and we'll MOT it".
