Serious taxation problem with steel imports to N.I.
And with horses from Ireland going racing. Owners have to pay vat, I think, on horses competing, and it will take months to reclaim when they take the horse home. This will be hundreds of thousands if not millions tied up.
One trainer brought over a hundred horses last year.

Oddly this was raised a few days ago with a trainer from Newmarket who also has holdings in Eire
After he actually raised the matter with HMC they assured him they will issure a temporary import licence for any live stock entering the UK for competitive reasons

I think this is just another case of folk jumping without actually checking

As ever john, try not to let the facts get in the way of a good story.

I would hazard a guess that something similar to pre EU rules will apply - I recall many years handling documents for concert equipment going abroad for rock bands where a number of taxes and vat exemptions were being sought. Essentially a bank guarantee is issued that every single item that leaves the country will return - even down to coffee cups and spoons as well as all the big stuff.

I see what you did there! :risas3::risas3::risas3::risas3::risas3:

As a side issue, I'm getting a bit bored of Brexit now. We've left the EU and guess what? The world is still spinning. Oh, and the Square Heads and their pet surrender monkeys are not very happy with us.

Racehorses travel around the world without a problem.

The only time it can cause difficulties is if the country of temporary import creates problems.

Given that country is likely to be where the event is being held why would they be daft enough to do that.

Of course it could always be that the problem is with NI/UK when the horses return - given our propensity to gold plate regulations in order to kick ourselves in the nuts....

Yep! Agree completely, time for us to put our big boys pants on and get on with it despite the machinations of our “friends across the channel”.

What John said.

Also, if you want to talk about jobless, explain to the British citizens who lost their jobs to cheap, east European labour when the floodgates opened. Your argument is weak, without merit and you have not considered the other side of the coin.

I really am sick and tired of all the dooming and scaremongering over Brexit. FFS, let it go.

Business is booming for the company I work at. They even paid back the furlough money they got from the government for a month or two last year. Bigger than expected 6 month bonus anorl.
