:bang: hi m8tys i have a problem about fitting bigger crash protectors like the ones bob told me about he has them on his bike so i was going to get them fitted to my bike as they sounded just what i wanted but after a visit to my local body shop they told me not to put them on as they sit to low on the bird and in the event of a spill would push the bike up and smash the nose cone wich is vert expensive they say smaller mushrooms like the ones i had but with un brake bolts will do a better job so here i am still not sure of what to do so come on peeps u tell me ok 8l1nd

I've heard the same thing about crash protectors on the lower mounting position....

Listen to Bob; he knows what he's talking about and I know through personal experience (on the bargebird & other bikes) that R&G's do the job they were designed to do. I have them on my new track bike and on my previous track bike they saved the fairings at least on one occasion.
Despite the bargebird being well biffed up, both side panels were useable as were the engine casings; down to the R&G's. BTW, the nose cone is mullered as it was a head on  .
The only ones I found to be too low, were those fitted to my Fazer (see pic below). As you can see the mounting point is far lower than the Bargebird mounting point. I removed them as I struggled to keep them of the deck and also concluded that in the event of a biff, the bike would indeed pivot on them & possibly cause more extensive damage to the top of the bike.
When Ben biffed his bargebird up recently, the bobbins he'd fitted were simply torn off and served no purpose other than to cause more damage.
