Missiles in north korea

richard

Cool as a Cucumber
Personally, I think Iraq will be shown to be a minor issue ...

North Korea has a self confessed nuclear program, and have misiles that could deliver a warhead to the East Coast of the US ..... Iraq on the other hand cant even reach Turkey across the No Fly zone ... are we not missing the real pont here?? ... or are we too shit scared of China ?? After all, they gave us a bloody nose last time didnt they ??

When did China give us a bloody nose..?, or are we talking like nearly 100 years ago ?

Interesting Commenst Richard~~

Apparently, in North Korea, electricity is in such short supply that all street lights have been disconnected and all domestic power is shut down at 22.00 local time every night.

Now, there may be a case to argue that a Nuclear Power Plant Development Programme is required to satisfy domestic demand.

Alternatively, as electricity is produced "on demand", what are the Koreans using it for after ten o'clock each night?

Or is this just a smoke screen to hide the real issue - the Nuclear Programme is exclusively being developed for warfare purposes?

While I agree that "unstable" dictators\presidents\kings\prime ministers and the like should not have access to such distgusting weapons, you have to look on the flip side.
Like it's all well and good a president and a prime minister saying to the world so-n-so should be stopped from developing certain weapons etc etc, when they themselves have enough to blow out our way of life to pieces over and over again, so really, who is anyone to say other nations shouldn't have them aswell.
I know having such weapons may actually help to keep peace, but laying down a world law from a couple of nations isn't what I'd call world freedom.
If there was a world wide ban on such weapons, then fine, but that will never happen, but being heavy handed to another nation for whatever reason, will only provoke anger from other nations, not just because of whats happening to the other nation , it's what could happen to them afterwards.

No you didnt miss a war ... the Korean war was effectively a US / China conflict towards its end ... it is also widely accepted that the US advance, that had been fairly effective until then, was brought to a halt by the strength of the Chinese forces :

"Oct. 26 - N Korea (west): The Chinese regulars virtually wipe out [Image] the ROK 6th and 8th divisions at Onjin. Simultaneously, the ROK 1st Div. is hit hard and collapses at Unsan. The ROK Army in the west evaporates. The 8th Army's advance comes to a halt and the entire front lines are in chaos. MacArthur's intelligence chief (Gen. Willoughby - perhaps, the most incompetent man on MacArthur's staff) is still repeating -"the auspicious time for intervention has long since passed."

http://www.kimsoft.com/korea/kr-wars.htm

Do we have any reason to believe that the chinese and Koreans are any less allies now in 2003 ??

Trouble is Bubba~~

No problem with a country/nation wanting to defend itself.

However what happens when Bin Laden/Saddam Hussein want to BUY a nuclear arsenal rather than develop it themselves?

In a corrupt Third World, someone somewhere will sell if the price is right!

That's the irony of the Weapons Inspectors in Iraq.......
Saddam Hussein could hand over all his weapons of mass-d tomorrow - by Friday he'd have bought some more.

So what's the point of protracting the agony?

The longer the wait - the more time it gives terrorists time to plan and prepare - don't you think that they already have "agents" in [probably] every Western Hemisphere City - just sitting and waiting for the telephone call.

If/when an attack on Iraq happens, watch out for 200+ simultaneous "Suicide Bombings" across Europe and USA

No worries about China, they won't blow their long awaited World Trade Organsisation membership to help N.Korea.

After Japan's declaration last week that they'll pop off a nuke the moment they see a whiff of smoke from a Rodong missile, I'm keeping my Bird warmed up and ready to go.
