Depends what you like. If you like that sort of thing, it is stunning.

Just mind you don't get stuck in the queues leading up to toll booths south bound. They can be almost as bad as the queues through millau before it was built!! Steer clear of rush hour and Sat mornings in high season.

Fantastic piece of engineering with stunning views from the bridge stopping points. It is good to ride over or under. The area around is bike riding heaven.

Millau

Got back from a tour of europe last month, first main stop was Millau. Well worth the stop. Bridge is amazing, but be aware, although it's high and windy, don't be put off as we were, the bridge has excellent wind breakers, almost 4 euros to cross and there's a cracking road to drive round and get some pictures too.

Absolutely No stopping allowed on the bridge. They send the blue lights out to you very quickley, and I believe a fine as well.
There's a service area on the north side that has excellent views of the bridge, and there's is a visitor centre below it on the south side.

The only viewing platform if you're going to cross it is before the bridge if you're southbound or after the bridge if northbound,if I remember correctly. You peel off the motorway into a rest area.Failing that, you can just leave the motorway and look at it from below.Wish we'd stopped to take some pics from below, but we were enjoying the roads too much.

If you ignore the fat balding bloke in the pic,the view is pretty spectacular.:-0)

Theres a visitor centre underneath the bridge. and theres a view point you can get to from the main road I think its on the northbound but might be both.

Just to confirm, there is basically a motorway service area next to it on the north side. Its accessable from both directons, very clever, two seperate roads in and out and two seperate car parks, basically so you can't bypass the toll booths by going in one way and out the other. But in fact you can on a bike, but you have to find an area of dropped footpath and ride through to the other side.
Fair walk up to the viewing area though, not really for the ashmatics amongst us:xm

The visitor centre in the valley is ok, but having been there I wouldn't bother again. You pay for the tour, and have to wait for an English tour, and somehow I just couldn't see the point, if you're there you probably already know much about it. Otherwise it's just a gift shop. Does give another view from beneath, but there are other places you can get that as well.

Think its been said, but there's no stopping on the bridge, so make sure you have a pilion with a camera to hand. There is a junction a few miles south. We travelled over it, turned round and then headed back across with pillions filming as we went.

Oh, and if you get there at a busy time, the que's to the toll booths can be almost as slow as the journey used to be when you had to go through the town!!

i drove up to millau from montpelier ..... although its mostly "motorway" its a pretty good road .... built for the bird ... loads of long sweeping bends ... even fun with full luggage ....

i never actually drove over the bridge cos it was getting near lunch time as i got there so i left the motorway at the last exit south of the bridge ... it turned out to be quite a ride into millau .... and once id had a leisureley lunch in the village i could'nt be ars3d to drive south again to drive north so drove up the other side of the valley .... again fantastic roads ...

once i got to the north i turned left off the motorway and went over to Sarlat ..... another beautiful area of france and well worth the visit ....:yo:

Stunning, had family tour of Europe a few years ago and that was my highlight, wife and son chose Colditz Castle, daughter chose Neuschwanstein castle. Fabulous holiday.

When we drove across the bridge there was a Golden Eagle flying parallel to us.

Rode over it last August on a 9 day trip.

Quite high and very impressive to look at. Felt like a normal motorway to ride over though. Definitely worth going to see. @tu*

Great ride over the bridge and everyone has already said it all. If you're looking for other place to go in the area, around 30 mins from Millau are the start of the Tarn Gorges. Great views roads and camping. The 40 odd miles from Le Rozier to Ispagnac are stunning. Will be busy in high season though

If you're camping and going through the gorges try stopping off at vallon pont d'arc.

I can't think of much better than sitting in the river with a bottle of Erdinger after a good days riding.
