Merseyside to Ambleside

First proper run on the bird and despite it being a dreary grey, wet, cold day, a great afternoons bimbling. Just one thing though, does anyone know a decent route from Liverpool past Preston as the A49 is a crock, all Light and gatsos.
:violin: truckhaven Off A6 at carnforth does a mean Leek and tattie soup.

If ya find a decent route let us know. Whenever we travel to Wales or t'a th'easter egg run on't wirral we always have to get past that boring bit between Preston & Liverpool/Chester. Invariably we always go via motorways till we get to the good roads.:bang: :yo:

Was tempted to do that on the way back. Lickily every light was not red , as it was on the way up there. Foookin pain in the arse, and wrists.
