A little update....
Been through highs and extremely lows both physically and mentally the last month or so ......
And Monday last week I suddenly thought F@@k this cancer, it’s. It NOT going to stop me doing things ...... and got on my bike and rode 38.6 miles
Mrs wondered where I had gone !!
On Tuesday I asked my consultant if it was ok to ride a bicycle, he advised as long as there isn’t any bleeding or side effects I’m Good to go!
So This Sunday my lad and I completed 31 miles .... aching arse and legs !!

And this coming Sunday ....... my 15 year old son and I are doing London to Brighton 54 mile challenge!!
A bit last minute as I’ve had no training in the last 5 weeks
We decided to do sponsorship for his World Challenge AND Cancer research ...... Again it’s a bit last minute ! So no link !!

It’s going to be very tough
I will be in pain
But bollox to cancer .... it isn’t going to stop me doing stuff ... !!!
If anyone sees me... give me a cheer !!! I will need ALL the encouragement

I’m awaiting a date for my Brachytherapy..... as I didn’t fancy the possible side effects from other operations !
I will keep You all updated

And best advice I can give ..... get yourself tested !!
I had no other symptoms at all ... except slightly raised PSA !!

Good morning everyone

Well it’s been a while .... hope you all have missed me ??
It’s been a bit of a roller coaster mentally since diagnosis and planning holidays etc etc

And yes I completed the London to Brighton cycle challenge with my 15 year old boy .... just under 5 hours which was amazing as it rained for 3/4 of the 54 miles !!

A little update time ....
Next week I have my Brachytherapy operation, (inserting radioactive seeds in my prostate) to try to stop the cancer ...
Lots of side effects which I won’t go into BUT it’s the Op with the least rubbish side effects!

On the bike front My Bird hasn’t been ridden in well over a month ... so took it in for its service and early MOT (left it at the garage yesterday) just hope I get it back before my op !! As I won’t be able to ride it for a little while.

That’s it for now ....
Catch up soon !!

The bike flew through the MOT and despite the lack of miles recently, the service helped the bike feel like she used to .... silky smooth and plenty of grunt !!
Forks are a bit pitted but these are fine for now .... will need a set in the future I think !

Next week is my turn, let’s hope I fly through my procedure equally as well !!

Me!

Best of luck, Darren. You can beat this, so chins up and stay positive.

I expect a full report on the size of the nurses' tits when you're done in hospital.

Just read through this from my original post, almost 5 years ago !
And yes it is 4.15am !!! As hospital wards aren’t conducive to quality sleep
Quite a journey !!

And I’ve said it before .... I was very lucky !
Get yourself tested .... it’s embarrassing BUT if this horrible disease can be caught early enough !
According to the adverts 1 in 2 people will be affected by cancer !
And many men die with it, not necessarily of it !
We are supposed to be living longer ...
Don’t leave it until it’s too late!!
We MOT our vehicles every year, let’s start looking after ourselves too.

On that thought everyone .... it’s 4.26am and I wish you all a fantastic weekend.
Off now, for a hour or two kip

Get a full MOT every year... and thanks to resent unexpected hossy visits have had repeated full body scans and enough x-rays to irradiate most of my body !

Glad things are going to plan for you mate :)
