MCN - 'The Comic' - Examples of their total ineptness needed urgently

Meeting somebody senior within EMAP later and I'll have the chance to comment seriously on their publications............

I rate very highly RiDE, BIKE and PB as I'm sure most of us do, but it's MCN that I want to spend the most time discussing / slating...........

Please give me any examples of their incompetence / clumsiness / bungling ways..............I can recall a few 'classics' from the past but really need your help in gathering the worst together.............

The obvious one Sam~~

is the photo-chopped "New 1200 Bird" that appeared so many times it's boring!

You could also mention that we support CLIC charity - Children with Leukemia and other Life terminating illnesses.

Last year when Marc Potter was appointed editor - I spoke with him about a write up for us post-BASH.

We emailed him a press release 4 times and it wasn't even acknowleged let alone printed. We raised over ?600 and the press release was professionally written [without the bull cos I wrote it!!!!!!!!!!!] and included 3 piccies of the cheque presentation

At the Trade Expo in Coventry some months ago with JAWS we met the EMAP people and brought this to their attention - still not a word via email / phone / carrier pidgeon

Can you mention the apathy that MCN staff are showing?

Sam....Could you try to find out where they get their information from ? So many times you read stuff in MCN that is credited to 'an inside source' or 'one of our contacts' and it turns out to be total bulls**t. !!!!

As the only weekly bike publication it should be credible....but like most of us, I read it and don't believe a word of it !!!!!!

I shall of course be pointing out what a ridiculously bad for business idea their "E-Subscription" is! I mean come on, let's say I subscribe and I get emailed this weeks MCN in .pdf format - well what's to then stop me creating a great big mailing list and emailing you lot the .pdf every week? That way the whole of the forum would get MCN electronically into their on-box and they'd instantly lose about 300sales a week! Numpties!

Errrrrrrr Bert I'm a businessman! - I'm going to EMAP to propose a solution to prevent people from being able to do this............it's the best way to sell you see - identify the threat myself and then show them how to defend against the threat from people like me! Should work.........................

Just tell him bikers are sick and tired of being treated like muppets.. If they want be called a NEWS PAPER, they should at least try and get the facts rather than simply make stuff up to fill in the gaps..

Yes, and that is still on. Problem is that having sent out the press stuff, it now appears that the launch has been put back again due to an engine problem that is causing a scratching of heads, so no date has been set at the moment.
