As this is my first Bird Bash, and Bird ride out(s) I thought I better check on something....

My race cans are incredibly loud - ART titanium, with no baffles at all, as far as I can tell! Whatever fibre padding was in there 5 years ago is now just crusty carbon...

Anyway, I wanted to check if there were any issues with this for the ride-outs. You'd be surprised at the dirty looks I've had in the past!! Especially from bedroom curtain twitching neighbours I've woken when I used to leave for work at 06.30 - dunno what their problem was?? :eek:

Also, I have a tiny, 'weird graphic' number plate. I can refit the legal version if required.

I have a feeling I'm worrying too much, and I've been dithering asking this But now we approach the 4 week countdown (yippee!) so I've decided to check, just in case!. I've been window shopping some Blue Flame cans, and would consider taking the leap if need be..

p.s. Really looking forward to the Bash! Here's hoping for fantastic weather.

The Saturday ride out is into Wales personally never had a problem with cans (i have Art cans)plus it wont be heard with another 80 bikers beside you but the number plate issue could be a problem i would put a legal one on

I can only speak for myself and leave myself wide open for abuse, but wtf.

If I could find a set of cans that made no noise I'd buy them and would never consider a smaller plate than the legal one. Why, because as a minority group and basically dis-liked by the majority the last thing I want to do is draw attention to myself. A cop stuffing his face with doughnuts wont hear me coming and I'm past him before he has time to put the doughnut back, given him 2 miles notice may just prick his conscience of duty. Once pulled over to give him another interest in a small plate just delays you a while further. I have better ways of enjoying myself than passing time with plod in a layby.
I could never forgive myself if I was responcable for having a whole group pulled over, but hayhoe thats just me.

I won't be doing the ride out but I think if venturing into Wales [Brunstromville] then you would be best advised making sure you & your bike are legal.

I dont have any problems with the above, just as long your not reving the nuts off it at 6.30 am when some of us are just returning back to our tents for few hrs kip.

Plus having a bike in the groupe that's a cop magnet draws the attention away from anyone just over the speed limit etc.

I think Arty & Smix will be paying more attention to the fact that this is your first bash , than the size of your...........

If it makes you feel better I'll take all the baffles out of my Blueflames (nice 'n' throaty then:-0) ) plenty of others will be running aftermarket jobbies so you deffo wont feel out of place

As has been said as long as you dont rev the nuts off it (too often) can't see anyone moaning. However I would change the plate they're getting a bit fussy about 'em around here and the Welsh borders now, it really aint worth the grief (and it's nice when plod goes straight to the back of the bike then realises he can't nick you for it)

CYA there :yo::yo::yo:

Sorry boys, but SIZE DOES MATTER.

However, as I won't be at the bash due to a prior committment, he's only got Smix and Melzibub (be afraid) to worry about, this time out....................

Steve.. as with any Birdie doo, you are responsible for your own bike, insurance.. and fines.

Agree with Mtk, silent is best and I'd rather hear what the engine is doing than the shitte coming out the end.

baffles?? what are baffles??? :yo::yo: Anyway, I'm contemplating halving the size of the current Scorpians (sans baffles!) and putting in an undertray which will of course need a plate the size of a ciggie packet to look good! :} :}

You won't be the only one - you just might be asked to ride at the back if they are that loud, cos following someone with very loud cans can get deafening :}

SF - I thought MTK's coment was a bit tongue in cheek - although I could be wrong.

I love the sound of a good after market exhaust - if its too loud to follow, then they have to go at the back!!! sh1tehppns

Ok - thanks, guys 'n' gals... :yo:

I do feel a bit torn, now, as there were different schools of thought!

The reason I was thinking of the new Blue Flames (dual port jobbies) is that you have various combinations of baffle fitments (none, 1 baffle in, both baffles in). So at least I would have the opportunity to increase/decrease volume depending on the 'situation'.

Currently I have one volume option... Feckin' LOUD!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.... OK. I think I know what to do.... fl4g71

And the plate issue is a 'no brainer' - legal one will be displayed.

By the way, not much chance (in fact, feckin' ZERO chance) that I will be starting the bike at 06.30!!! Nadine & I will both be in the land of nod
ZZZzzzzzzzz....

Looking forward to meeting you all!!

p.s. Do we need any special protective gear whilst in Wales?? g0nn3 I once saw this film called 'Deliverence' with Burt Reynolds..... Sooooowweeee!!!!

I have a blueflame Evo w/out baffles and it passed the MOT. Unless you're ragging it the sound is quite mellow and rumbly (!).
