Yup I know a few are gonna say its in competition/copying the SOSB, well it ain't. I have also talked it through with Smixy.. and her view is that the more trained First Aiders out there the better, to the point that we both agreed that it should be part of you car/bike test (at least accident management).
John has also given the all clear, so this is the proposal....

THIS THREAD WILL BE UPDATED (sticky maybe?)
This post is dated 23/11/06

A 3 hour First Aid couse at the May BASH, on the Sunday from about 10/10.30am (to be confirmed). I assume this is before the ped racing, so it should allow some real First Aid practice.

The course will be certificated by St.Johns Ambulance which will include some biker specific accident training like helmet removal or not as the case may be, it will also cover resusitation, burns, broken limbs, etc, etc.

The cost of the course will be ?3.00 per person - purely to cover administration for St.Johns/certificate/registering, the trainer(s) will be doing it for free (Normally the cost is about ?30 per person). On completion of the course the participant will be registered for 3 years, so that isn't bad at a quid a year. I do need to confirm - but legally and to stop you from potentially being sued by a patient St Johns do an insurance cover to cover any litigation that may arise if you happen to help an ungrateful patient. (There may be a minimal charge per annum for this insurance cover).

The course needs to be booked into St.Johns Ambulance prior to the event to make it official (just a St.Johns thing I believe). 10 days before hand.

The qualified trainer (my wife Gina) will be able to handle 12 to 18 people, so its first come first served. Should we get an abundance of takers then it may be possible to arrange for another trainer.

It may be possible for already trained aiders to use this as a refresher course (have to confirm that one).

Ok then, if you are interested please leave your Bird User Name and normal christian/surname below. Please also notify us if you cannot attend 14 days before the event.
