Im off to Germany again in May for the Thunderaceclub.de meeting, Harz mountains this year :-0)

Ive been looking for a map of the area, I usually go for the Michelin series but couldnt find a suitable map of the Harz until I came up with a set from these people http://www.mapsman.com/store/category.php?id=30. The Mottorrad series are aimed specifically at motorcyclists. They are at a scale of 1cm=2km and are plastic coated so that they are not only waterproof but you can mark the route with a felt tip and clean it off when your finished. The maps show motorcycle meeting points, good touring roads and "beautiful motorcycle routes" BTW map 10 covers just what I wanted.

Enjoy your trip.
We were there 4 years ago. Stayed in The Hotel Harmonie, the biker hotel in Bad Grund run by Simon.
Lovely area.
Take care on the pot holed, old cobbled roads :)

Cheers Roxxo Ive visited the Harz before spending only a day exploring with Mikew.

This meeting is being arranged by Thunderaceclub.de so we will have two days of fast touring followed by 1 or 2 days on our own. The club has bulk booked the Maratim Berghotel in Braunlage.

While you are over there, check out wernigerode & Quedlinburg... Bloody wonderful places... Have fun.

We have also stayed with Simon, and although we enjoyed his hospitality, we had more fun at the Hotel Belle View (http://www.hotel.bellevue.harz.de/)

Its over 100 years old, looks like Draculas castle, and has a great bar in the cellar. Brilliant food, right in the village centre, good hosts, and if I remember rightly, a bit less expensive than Hotel Harmonie.

Thanks for the tip on the Hotel Belle View.

We stayed in Quedlinburg two years ago at a converted printing works, very clean, good price for b+b
and we were allowed to lock our bikes in the garage.

I had one of the best steaks ever at an Italian restaurant in the old square.
