On the cheap insurance front, it's a nightmare out here with no logical explanation as to how the insurance companies arrive at their figures. I would recommend trying the comparison sites such as confused.com as a starter and then playing them off against your current insurer. It helps to cut down the amount of ringing around that you have to do - you go armed with the cheapest quote that you can find. I've saved around ?300 by this method!

Nip across to JAWS :bow:in Thetford for the servicing; not too far for you and you will get the job done properly and at the right money.

Even if he is an old git.:neenaw:

Mark Davall in Harlow is good, not sure of his prices though.

I just renewed my insurance through Adrian Flux, and paid ?75 TPFT for the year.

Oye ! Less of the git if you don't mind ! :-0)
Yup, got several customers who ride over from your neck of the woods..
I do the work while you watch ( and usually you end up getting your hands a bit dirty too :p ) Average prices seem to be 1/2 to a 1/3 of other places

This year I got the best deal ever from Ebike (sp??), I've had policies from all the usual suspects in the past, Nash, Bennets etc, but this year Ebike were eye-poppingly cheap, comprehensive, inc breakdown, legal etc for ?120 ish, shop around, and no, 30 mins of yellow pages trawling & calling is NOT shopping around, give yourself a few hours, use low rate phone numbers, the ones at the back on Bike mags & the internet comparison sites too ....... set a target price in your mind and go for it ........ as for bird servicing via John at Jaws?, never used him myself, but, the "getting involved bit" sounds good fun, so I can see me going for that at some point .... :-0)

Well worth a trip, watching it being done is so much more assuring than leaving it at the dealer's, you know what's being done and seeing it's done properly. John will even show you any bits of your bike which aren't set up correctly, as I know. He was also able to show me that some parts of last service had not been done by the main dealer :wank: last time out :xm .

I had a 300 mile round trip for this service, new tyres too while I was there, rode home in a thunderstorm, but it was all worth it for the satisfaction of seeing a job well done with good value for my ??s.

Bike sure ?140 fullcomp no body else could get close
Had one company come in at over ?600 (bunch of tossers) but as the others say you need to trawl through the companies to get a decent rate...

Re Insurance for Blackbird

I have just got a quote for the 56 Plate Super blackbird i have just brought. Carol Nash have just quoted ?211 fully comp, protected no claims, legal cover and full uk and european breakdown. I think that is sooooooooooo cheap.

Agree with the others get yourself over to JAWS even if he is a self confessed 'old fooker codger' at least you will know the job is done properly and that peace of mind is priceless.

As for insurance just keep shopping around. I would recommend ringing some people up. The market is very competitive at the moment, so you should be able to haggle.

good luck

I have not run the Blackbird through yet as its not due; but put the CBF through Tesco Compare.com; same insurer/ excess and policy coverage but without breakdown (as its covered by honda this year) and saved over ?300.

I am not one to hide the companies names - name and shame I say so Nash wanted ?569 using Equity Red Star and Simple Insurance based in Rainham wanted ?248 with the same Insurer and I did not even mention the security.

Take note what ever you mention to the Insurer must be used AT ALL TIMES when unattended......read the small print!

Have fun.....:yo:

I can vouch for that! Jaws had me greasin' the fasteners and various bolts as he got the big jobs done. Which was fair enough, since it's the only time I've done it.

Bike feels great; and John did a lot of work on it. Well worth the trip to Thetford.

As did wonder if the main dealers give it a cats lick and a promise then charge you oodles for f*ck all only an oil change. Ill be popping to thetford in the new year.

On the insurance theme i have 3 bikes and all are insured with "WICKED QUOTES" My Hornet is 117 a year tpft and the BLACKBIRD IS PUT ON THE SAME POLICY FOR JUST ANOTHER ?50. My yam cruiser xv1600 is ?112 tpft.

Bennets nash ...all greedy buggers!!!s04pb0x6

That's a good tip :yo:

I've tried running the quotes with/without security and generally it makes little difference.

I'd rather pay ?5.00 (or nothing most times!) a year more and not be worried if I forget to use the disklock or whatever, that I mentioned on the quote.

If you mention it and then don't use it they can back out of any theft claim.

Hi, I'm new Blackbird owner, well I will be on Saturday :yo:

I 've been riding for 4 years but only have 1 years NCB, overlapping policies, they'll get out of everything they can the gits... but I went with Carole Nash Fully Comp full EU breakdown and 12k miles per year all for the tidy sum of ?183.78, I had to ring for the quote though, their net system quoted me ?599.19 massive difference.
So make sure you shop about, oh by the way I'm 31.

Hastings Insurance for me - I've got a K7 GSXR750, and added the Blackbird to the stable last July. They carried over my 10 years + no claims discount on the Suzuki as long as both bikes were registered in my name & kept garaged at my home address.

Result - ?140 comp for the Suzuki - solo use only & ?165 comp for the Blackbird with pillion cover (obviously) and class 1 business use.

:-0)
