Anyone got any up to a date knowledge/experience?

Putting an ensuite bathroom in, power shower, bog, sink. Will need a macerator as the drain is on the other side of the house. My concern is that they are quite noisy but that is based on relatively old units in other people's homes so maybe things have moved on (?), although I can site it in the attached garage easily enough which I guess will help with noise suppression.

Any recommendations on brand and technical specifications? Needs to go into and across loft (bungalow) and travel about fortyish feet to the soil pipe.

    Thanks in anticipation:bow:

I can only comment on the noise part, newer ones are quieter and are running for a shorter time. My daughter had and old one that had been neglected and not serviced properly and that seems to be where most of her loo's issues lie.

FIL has a Saniflo unit, it has been very reliable, bit noisey but only for 10 seconds or so

The only unit I have experience of is early saniflow , the later ones are supposed to be quieter & run for a shorter time, they are easy enough to fit as all that's needed is power & 22mm outlet

You really need to check the latest spec as I have known early ones to block when asked to lift waste high & pump it a long distance, getting a reasonable fall to the soil after the lift will help with this though

There is a huge price range for these things, from about ?200 to ?700.

    Wondering what the difference is:dunno:

Stick to a saniFlo there about the only one's i now that have a good services support if it dose all go wrong.

Most will have to sit directly behind the loo they do not like you having long pips from the bog into the unit.

Follow the install manual to the T and your be fine try doing it your own way coz you know best will end up in it going wrong remember that have been making them for years.

Thank you for the practical advice.

You will be pleased to know that as a one off special tradesmen will be employed to build the ensuite:-0)

I can see that some units can be serviced by removing a cassette type thing rather than having to remove the whole unit - sounds sensible, but what are they like in practice?

there is aways a down side to having to use one But remembering its also a plus side to you can now have a bathroom were you want it.

access to it is the key but from passed experience the killer is pantie towels and the dim whit that put the exit pipe wrong out of the unit.

Get the exit pipe bang on as per there install manuals and you will not have a problem.

Totally agree on benefit. - had a site meeting with swmbo yesterday who wanted a small extension built just for an ensuite - was able to persuade her that there is more than enough room in the master bedroom.

The mention of adding a walk in wardrobe as well may have helped sway the decision in my favour.....8rfl@

Not really - done pretty well over the years buying stuff where value can be added.

However, the plan is to leave this one in a box...........
