Lowered footpegs

RHINO

Answering to nobody
Here's a set of pegs i've just bought to fit the BUSA..

The pegs are nearly 2" lower than the standard knee crippling ones fitted. So many people shy away from these bikes because of the riding position, its a ?35 fix.

Part numbers are NO521.1AD & NO520.1AD......they come from a BUELL XBS and they are almost a straight fit barr a touch of filing underneath and an ally bush being turned up.
I believe they are the same as Rolfy has on his BIRD, so all those with Joint problems who wish to lower their pegs a fraction you'de be mad not to give these a try first.

Stockport Harley Davidson got me a pair within 3 days

Fair enough - better ground clearance than the Bird then?

Yeh i'd say there was. The BUSA pegs are way too high in standard form anyway.

Best you don't sit on a 750K5 with Gilles rear sets then?

I've got a pair on order already. I was going to get them sleeved down to take the stock Honda mounting peg. Your pix look like this has already been done. How much material did you need to take off the underside of the pegs, and (for Rolfy) how did you overcome the problem of the sidestand not being able to fully retract?

Sorry about all the Qs....

I've used a couple of ally bushes in my pegs to take the Suzuki pins, that way i can simply swap back to original pegs if i shrink.

Cheaper way rather than forking out for lower footpegs is to just let some air out of your tyres. :p

No worries about any questions...

Dont know what the problem is... My sidestand goes up no hassles...

I have removed the hero blobs, But aprt from that, I also have just sleeved the pegs so that the origional pins are used...

Cheers,

Rolfy

Thanks, Rolfy. I'd heard that the sidestand would foul the new pegs, but if you're not having problems, no reason I should!

I'm sure you've already posted pix of the Buell pegs on your 'Bird, but I'm buggered if I can find them. Where should I look?

Here's mine with them fitted.

Only had one minor problem with the fitting, something which i overlooked completely and which was spotted by a mate of 'Silverone's' (thanks)

I had to lower the brake pedal position and gear lever position BUT because i'd altered the rear brake pedal it also meant my brake light was stuck on.
Once at Matlock i got my trusty Suzuki tool kit out and whizzed off the foot peg bracket & related gubbins, adjusted the brake light switch and whizzed it all back together :yo:

I've ridden it onto the edge of the tyre tonight and the pegs still didn't deck out so i'm a happy bunny.

great info fella's ordering a set as we speak..
quick one for Rolfy.. did you have any probs adjusting brake lever on your Bird mate as I noticed that the Busa is on the same spline and the birds is independant ??? thanks in advance..

NB: had a bit of a shock yesterday I took it for granted that my new to me Bird would be fine for some long haul touring in stock trim...
went on a 200 mile trip and found that I was wrong.. stock screen is a killer at 70 or above.. pegs feel very high after about 40 miles with my bum knees and I really suffered on the trip..

Going the whole Hog and hope that it sorts me out ..MRA vario screen.. Bar raisers from John and some Buell pegs.. fingers crossed that it sorts me out because I really like the bird but if I cant get it comfortable for touring which is what I bought it for then ..c7u8

pop over and give mine a try, MRA bouble bubble, V-tech bars, standard pegs though, and see how it compares. I use it for 152 miles stints on a tankfull and dont realy get any trouble.

Just come back from a 150 mile trip on mine and its :yo: :lick: , the peg mod is the best thing i've ever done.
No aches, pains or clearance worries.

I opted for the other method - I got a fat seat from Melboy !!

Just one thing that I am curious about, would you consider telling your insurance company about changes made to the 'controls' of the bike ?

Worth a thought as you know how picky they are if the worst happens ?

They look nice tho.
