anyone else watch this??

A really hard watch but perhaps the most informative programme I have ever seen about the reality of the Nazis and, in particular, ethnic cleansing.

Also gave a great explanation of the reasons why WWII happened.

As I say, not an easy watch, bet recommended.

Maybe it struck a massive chord with me so soon after visiting Auschwitz........even though I was pretty well informed before the visit it really hit me and everyone in our party big time. Heaven knows what it must be like visiting if you have little or no knowledge of what went on.

One of the reasons I refused to go to Auschwitz is because it is such a terrible place and I know a few people who have been and said as you, you carry the imagery and the thoughts for a long time and it remains with you maybe for life

I detest any form of racism but I feel that Israel's treatment of the Palestinians does little to help.

Or of the Palestinians attacking Israel, when it was the British that stabbed the Palestinians in the back.

Then they are surprised that they get attacked from Gaza.

I met a guy who came here to do a masters in "peace" can't remember exact title. It took a lot of work to get permission from Israel to get out of Gaza, unbelievable. Easier to get out of jail.

We were in Switzerland one year and my was talking to a chap while I was doing something to the bike. We found out that he was on holiday from Israel and hired a bike in Italy. She mentioned we were our way to Germany as it’s a beautiful country. She couldn’t figure out why he said “we don’t go there” people can be too insular and realise the past is the past and not allow it to fester.

I think that's the point...
They should "encourage" all world leaders and their advisers to visit Auschwitz.
It might just persuade one or two of them that nobody really "wins" a war, especially a world war.

Hmmmm.i don't see it like that....I knew what I was letting myself in for and felt it important to go.

None of our party of eight said they wish they hadn't gone afterwards, regardless of how they felt about it.

Me? I just think it's important that we don't forget. Not that is hasnt happened again.

Each to their own though.

I will never forget.. And having spoken at length with a few friends from Germany neither will they..Young people who should not really fell shame are in fact still deeply ashamed of what happened and I doubt they will ever forget either
Perhaps we can have the talked about 100 years of peace in Europe...

Having visited Auschwitz a few years ago, it was one of those places I think everyone should visit, not just world leaders.

We had a guided tour. Our tour guide was only a young guy but very passionate about what had gone in. He never said but I suspect he may have had relatives there.

One thing he said in his tour will stick with me for ever.... "One day people will say this never happened.... We cannot allow that to happen". How true those words are.

When I went there, there was a group of German schoolchildren getting the tour so they can’t say it didn’t happen.

The other thing we did was visit the Schindler Museum/factory.

Not much in itself but a brilliant guided tour that gave a broad understanding of Poland in the 20th century.

It's was somewhat chilling to see film of a massive Nazi victory parade in the Medieval square in the centre of Krakow where we had been in the middle of a happy throng enjoying the marvellous Xmas market the previous evening. Then we saw film of the executions in the same square.....

The Palestinian's attacks on Israel are just pinpricks. Just about all Palestinians currently alive have grown up in pens controlled by Israel with their land and more importantly water resources being taken for new Israeli settlements. Israel has no interest in peace. That would mean they would have to stop building settlements on Palestinian land. The only Israeli leader who genuinely tried for peace was killed by the Zionist right wing whose God promised them that everywhere was their promised land. Coming to your field in about 50 years time! :D

I find it sadly ironic that the Israelis behave not a million miles away from how the Nazis did in their early years before the war.
