Loom fix?

Hi most helpful geezers online. I have had a red '97 bird for the past 5yrs and done all the services and replacements necessary for a carbed bird. I thought however that I would try a different bike to see how they compare. So yesterday tested the bmw S1000sr, GS1200, Honda Cross tourer clutchless and clutched version and the popular (can someone tell me why?) Kwak Z1000sx. Not a single bike came anywhere near the smoothness, performance and comfort of the blackbird and I couldn't wait to get my leg over the old gal. Only conclusion, the bird is the best bike ever built. So, I have now bought another bird replacing my recently sold second bike, a 800VFR. It's a 2005 and black 14k (forum banter says they are the quickest) I have read many times tales about the loom fix on Fi models. Excuse the dumbness but could someone please clarify what exactly is entailed with the loom fix? Is it a must replace or wait till something goes wrong replace. Thank you in advance

Definitely a 'must fix' it is very likely to end in tears otherwise.
