Any advice or comments on this trip? To motorway or not to motorway... good stop offs... fast roads... speed cameras...? :dunno:

My bird has never ventured North of Matlock, but I have done the London to MIdlands trip several times and always come up the A5 as far as Tamworth in South Staff where I live. Plenty of Little chefs, supermarket cafes etc. Roads ok (not exciting, not 'Ride-out road but good for getting somewhere)). Cant help much from there on but head for peak district for nice roads.

Where u stayin in North Yorks? I live just outside Skipton and can recommend a few local roads if u like. When u coming up? I'm moving house this weekend so I'm a tad busy (supposed to be packing now!) but if I'm free and you are over this way we could meet up for a buzz out somewhere. I've been away on hols (in the car) for 2 weeks and busy with the house so I haven't been out on the bike for ages and I need a good excuse!

PS. Bring some good weather with u. Its rained non stop since I got back from France at the weekend. :rant:

PPS....

No speed cameras at all in North Yorks BUT......

Lots of bike fatals last year, so there are lots of police out on the more popular bike routes, particularly at weekends. Mostly in marked cars, but the odd plain car too - keep your eyes peeled!
