Got this through the post this morning.

Still trying to formulate a reply that doesn't include the phrase "haven't you got better things to do...?".

How about something along the lines of -

"As a result of your letter, I have just gone out and purchased half a dozen eggs that I can suck on!"

But then thats Sussex for you........

Dear Mr Honor.
How many of these letters have been sent out? & more to the point how much tax payers money has gone into publishing & sending these letters?

Do you send letters to convicted burglars after their release asking them to consider not breaking into houses?

The possibilities for ending crime are immense, all you have to do is write to every rapist, paedophile, murderer etc & ask them not to reoffend then we can empty the prisons safe in the knowledge that they will ge good boys & girls from now on.

Dear Mr Honour,

Were the two people killed or seriously injured on the roads of Sussex your predecessors, attacked by members of the public pissed off with condescending letters such as you have sent out?

Yours psychotically

These differing spellings of the name are not going to sit well with Beaker.

Have you by any chance been through one of the mobile speed cameras manned by the public??

Nope. Haven't seen that around these parts, only in villages further up in North Hampshire and Surrey. The only times that I'm in West Sussex I'm either on the A27 or in Chichester, not where you'd find the public camera operators.
But I've not travelled east for months and when I have then I haven't ridden or driven through any outlying villages, just the A27 to Chichester and back (the bridge that he mentions is on the A27 on the road to Chichester and that's where the camera van was parked. I was on the A27 travelling east).

No, I suspect this is a reminder that the points are due to come off soon and I should be a good citizen and stick to the speed limits to keep it that way.

The dual carriageway stretch of the A27 between Havant and Chichester is only 6 miles long but traffic speeds tend to be fast. i.e motorway speeds. Despite that I've personally not seen an accident on that road for years. Call me cynical, but I suspect Sussex Police treat that stretch of the A27 as a bit of a cash cow, they know that average traffic speeds are high enough to justify deploying a happy snappy van.

Personally I don't think the idea of the letter is a bad one, but it doesn't really get what I believe the message was supposed to be across.

I use the A27 down that way quite a lot, don't think I have ever thought it was a road where 70 isn't respected in general.

What I do know is that where you have to go into the right hand lane to follow the A27 round to the right it is much quicker to stay in the left lane, turn left and then turn round in the services opposed to queuing up. If you time it well you might find a gap in front of an HGV to pull into before the lights as wel,as they struggle to get moving in the uphill stretch.

Don't tell anyone though.

I was clocked at just under 85mph and I was keeping up with, what is generally speaking, the normal flow of daytime traffic. I would imagine that quite a few were snapped that day.

The roundabouts along the stretch passing Chichester are a nightmare at rush hour. I've often found it pays to stay in the right hand/right turn lane and if you miss the chance to go straight over then a trip round the roundabout is still better than queueing in the inside lane(s).

Just had a look at the map - The bit I am referring to above is just before Arundel approaching from the Brighton side. Almost always a massive queue in the right hand lane to follow A27.

Arundel is a very nice place.

He’s a Chief Superintendent and the twat can’t finish a sentence properly? Chief Super needs a slap and this site needs a new pedant, FFS.

I have better things to do on a Sunday morning than open my eyes to these sort of failures.
