LED Headlight bulbs and MOT

Hi all,
Just had my bike MOT’d today (Tue 15th ) and the man tells me that it should now fail due to my bike having an LED headlamp fitted
as there’s been a change in the rules as stated above.
So I’m going to put a normal bulb back in (after 4 years with the LED) would I be right in thinking the standard bulb sits on a “top hat thingy”
and if so has anyone got a spare or know where I can Get hold of one.

Shouldn't this be in the "Tech help for Blackbirds" so you have to wait until its sorted before taking the ####
Yes it does sit in a top hat adaptor dubree and they seem to be rare in the 2nd hand arena
The part number is 33130MAT611 and if I remember rightly they are about £20 a throw !!

Unless it's changed again.

I've just MOT'd the gixxer with LED's in it, no prob.

I suggest Ned finds a new MOT place.

Well that update seems clear.

I'd go back again and query it with the tester

Thinking of putting a normal headlamp bulb back in my bike because I’m fed up with this
grey area around what type can/cannot be used in the stranded unit that was not designed
for a hid/led.
So what I would like to know is which is the best “normal" bulb to fit

Can't go wrong with Philips or Osram, but these so called brigher bulbs (Xtreme vision, Race vision) are still technically limited to 1500lm by law and tend not to last as long. Can give more light on the road by manipulating the filament location and give a more white light depending on which version you choose.

Don’t be tempted to go for a mega wattage bulb as you might get the smell of melting plastic while you are riding……
