The EU are being very shrewd.

Almost everything Boris wants, but....

Full blown customs control at UK/N.I. entry points.
North/South border stays as is now.

This will be an even worse option in the eyes of the Unionists.

But I'm not convinced that Boris et al will actually realise/care and might walk into agreeing the deal as it gives him most of everything else he wants and he can claim to be macho man

Well Sammy Sausage thinks this is important.
The EU gut met the business people and this proposal is the result. I understand they are more than pleased with it.

He signed it because without it he couldn't "get Brexit done".

He'll agree to/sign anything as he has no moral position - in his world you say/do whatever gets you what you want today.

Tomorrow is another day and what you want will be completely different, but you don't worry about that - agree/sign/do whatever you need to to get what you want.

Repeat the above steps continually - in the mind of such a person they don't see that each event has any connection with any other (or any other day).

Don't forget Boris was wholly opposed to Brexit until he realised it could get him into No 10.

He's above the age of reason but doesn't bother using it - it might stop him getting what he wants!
